I was a huge fan of FOREVER KNIGHT and was sad and very disappointed to see it end. I'm glad that it's now on DVD, but I still have one major problem. The first two seasons are being sold here for about fifteen dollars a piece. The finally season, as I'm sure others have noted, is over one hundred!
What's up with this? Perhaps there is some bonus material that makes it worth the high price that I'm not aware of?
I love shopping at amazon. I generally get really good deals here, but until or unless the price is soon lowered for the last season of FOREVER KNIGHT, I won't be able to afford to buy it.
Please amazon, help us out here!

In its third season, cult favorite "Forever Knight" continues a fine tradition of excellent, even thought-provoking storytelling while concluding the saga of Nick Knight, 13th Century vampire and 20th Century Toronto homicide detective.

In the opening double episode of the season, "Black Buddha", a deranged bomber destroys an airliner leaving Toronto, precipitating a major shakeup in the cast of "Forever Knight." Knight's partner and his precinct captain are killed in the crash. Knight's new partner is Tracy Vetter, an inexperienced and often impulsive detective whose father happens to be police commissioner. Her arrival allows an interesting plot twist. Tracy falls in love with the boyishly charming vampire Vashon, but remains unaware that Nick is also a vampire, leading to a series of humorously ironic situations, notably in the episode "My Boyfriend is a Vampire.".

Season Three continues the themes of the series. Nick hungers for redemption and struggles with the guilt of 800 years of killing. He continues to work through a complicated relationship with police coroner and close confidant Natalie Lambert. Their love for each other will come to drive several episodes and the ending of the series.

As in Seasons One and Two, actions relentlessly have consequences; Nick's life is repeatedly made complex by his struggle to balance his vampire nature against his instinct to act for good. Nick's tendency to resort to his vampire abilities to solve crime sometimes complicates the cases or threatens the intended moral outcome.

Nick's vampire mentor LaCroix plays a large role, continuing his delicate wrestling match with Natalie for Nick's soul while sometimes bailing Nick out of trouble.

less for the packaging.

This is the third and sadly, final season for the series. Nick's life in Toronto is beginning to end as the series opens. In the first episode both his partner and boss are replaced and not for the better. In the vampire world Janette has moved on. Nick's new partner, Tracey Vetter, a rather annoyingly perky young woman has stumbled upon the existence of vampires, a secret that she is intent on keeping from Nick. As the season progresses the stories do improve, particularly those involving Tracey and Vachon, 'her' vampire. The stories are interesting and well done for the most part.

The final episode is compelling but will certainly cause fans of the series to scream 'no' and frantically search for a loophole.

The downside to this set, besides being the final episodes, is the lack of extras. Commentaries by actors, writers, series creators etc. would have been greatly appreciated and are conspicously absent. An explanation of the reasoning behind the ending in particular would have been of great interest. Instead all that is offered are some music videos of songs that were featured in the series.

So after ending up with a $100 Amazon card from work, I decided that I would head directly to Amazon to purchase season3 of Forever Knight on DVD, I've coveted the 3rd season for decades. After having owned the first two seasons I decided to finally give in to exorbitant and extortion pricing offered by Amazon sellers. These guys belong in a sub-species of human existence all their own. Sad, little bastards overcharging fans for the products they love.

Like the other two seasons, Part III is handsomely packaged and well put together but offers very little in the way of bonus features.

That said, I feel like I can die happy after procuring this after so many years, but not before I take a few of these online, scalper, slithering sub-humans with me. Before I leave this earth I will have my revenge.

Forever Knight is an interesting series, if you enjoy occult shows and TV series then this could be for you. If you don't then it may perhaps be better to invest your hard earned funds elsewhere.

The series is built up in seasons one and two, season three begins with a largely new cast, only the two principles appear solidly constant. The new partner for Knight and the interactions she has with Knights community help to bring cohesion and draw the viewer. Storylines are consistent with the previous series, sometimes rather weak, mostly entertaining, not always predictable.

The final episode was the one that caught me competely by surprise, the twist in the tail was intriguing, not what I'd have written, and not particulary one that left any doubts in the viewers mind about the status of events.

With the entire series filmed in what I consider a very nice city [Toronto], reasonable sets, and only rare instances of "wooden" acting it's the genere more than anything that probably limited the series run.

In the end this is one of those series that's all about personal taste - that will ultimately be the clincher for the potential purchaser.
