This is a pretty comprehensive book that attempts to answer many of the questions that we've all pondered at some point - where did the universe come from? What existed before the universe? Can we travel to other stars and planets?

The answers come in easy-to-read bite-sized chunks and are both educational and entertaining. It's therefore a great resource for not just the astronomer, but also any curious reader or educator.

My only (minor) quibble is that some of the answers referred to dates in the past as though they were yet to happen. For example, the answer on blue Moons says "there will be" a blue Moon in July 2004 and December 2009. Likewise, there were a couple of cases where the text referred to diagrams that weren't there. Besides the need for a little updating, I'd still recommend this to anyone who wants to know more about the universe around us.
