#AskGaryVee reads like transcripts from the show, and that’s OK when the information being dispensed is this persuasive and accessible. Vaynerchuk answers questions large and small... Vaynerchuk’s enthusiasm is infectious. (Success)
Gary Vaynerchuk’s new book kicks ass like Muhammad Ali…Gary delivers. When you reach the end you feel your mind has expanded with a wealth of information and some new curiosities. You can and should go buy a copy right now (are book reviewers supposed to say that?) (Huffington Post)
The pages will turn your creative juices and light a fire under you. #AskGaryVee will make you uncomfortable and get you excited about your discomfort (Forbes.com)
Accessible and empowering chapters addressing self-awareness, public speaking, embracing a long-term vision, and the hallmarks of a good leader show Vaynerchuk to be a shrewd, learned businessman who effectively dispenses “real-world advice that can be adapted and reshaped as the winds of commerce and culture shift.” (Kirkus)

Gary Vaynerchuk—the inspiring and unconventional entrepreneur who introduced us to the concept of “crushing it”—knows how to get things done, have fun, and be massively successful. A marketing and business genius, Gary had the foresight to go beyond traditional methods and use social media tools such as Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube to build a millions-strong fan base that continues to grow.

And Gary gets personal, sharing new stories and lessons learned from years of working in a family business, raising children, getting healthy, and just being GaryVee. He’ll even help you buy a good bottle of wine.
Whether you’re launching your own company, working in digital media, starting your first job, or looking for inspiration, #AskGaryVee is your essential guide to making things happen in a big way.
I’ve always known what it takes to succeed in the trenches, but now with the hands-on experience of growing two businesses, one from scratch, I also know what the aerial view looks like, and what works best when you’re responsible for creating culture, developing careers, and managing clients in a company that seems to double in size by the day.”

The results for me did not start with "Converted more clients," "got paid more," or "bought a new car." What Gary taught me is that is not the point: Gary's advise on the show (and his completely new take on his advise in this book) made me be a better husband and father; Gary made me be a harder worker; Gary made me stop doing stupid things that were actually harming me more than helping. ... AND YES, because of all of that great things started to happen (except for buying that new car, because Gary let me see how I did not need to waste that money). My kids see me more and I am a better dad. I'm a better human being to be around -- and my business is doing so amazing BECAUSE OF THAT.
In this book, you get actual steps to take your work with those you serve to exciting new places: But that's all possible because Gary gives us the core pieces of himself that allow him to do these other tactics. Tactics are great -- and he gives lots of those -- but it's the heart and head stuff that made the difference.
Gary, I know you will read this so I just want to say directly to you: Brother, you have changed my life. Not because of the tactics -- even though those helped SO FREAKIN MUCH. What changed my life is that you showed me how to have the self awareness to figure out who I really am and have the authenticity to DARE to communicate that real me to the world. Gary, thank you.
Buy this book: be ready for it to change your life.
Thank you Gary for providing me SO much value and showing me how to crush it in youth ministry. Our students are engaging with me and each other better than they ever have before! Don't underestimate your reach, you really are making a difference. Though you may not believe what I believe, you are helping students in Springfield Missouri get connected to a church that truly does love them! Keep up the good work!
p.s. I'd love for you to make a 4-5 minute video on how churches can use social media to engage their communities better (maybe w/o cussing, haha!)... Also, all the pastors I know are freaking about about the "legal" issues involved with snap chatting minors??.. Anyways.. If you do, ill post the video to the pages I'm connected with (5,500 pastors) and maybe expand your reach into another area of influence.. Think about it!
p.s.s. Your parenting book needs to come out soon! :)
For instance, early in his book, the author makes a very strong black-and-white statement that in order to succeed you have to be willing to throw all your eggs in your startup's basket and go full steam ahead. I, too, had always believed this brash, confident approach in business until I read Originals: How Non-Conformists Move the World. And wow I was much more impressed by Originals than by AskGaryVee.
In Originals, the author cites studies that surprisingly reveal that people who gave everything up to do their start ups failed a lot more than people who built their start up more strategically. The group that succeeded more treated their start ups as side hustles, hedging it as a risky bet until the particular side hustle was sufficiently de-risked before plunging in. To further illustrate this point, the author also cites examples like the Google founders, Bill Gates, the founders of Warby Parker (who he taught), and others.
So, while Mr. Vaynerchuk charges his advice with more motivational umph, the truth seems to be more nuanced than to push a all-or-none attitude on starting a business. This is relevant if a founder of a startup wants to know the statistics of different approaches.
I also didn't like the style of AskGaryVee. Due to the chosen format (a collection of Q&A), it felt unfocused,
To me, this book's value lies in it's confidence building and motivational aspects. It's the sort of advice some successful dude might give you in a bar. It is a cheerleader. But if you're looking for strategic wisdom based on data rather than personal anecdotes, you should definitely supplement this book with some others that have more scholarship and discipline to them.
