This bright red hummingbird feeder holds 16 ounces of nectar and has 6 feeding ports for added access by all of the hummingbirds it attracts. Built in ant moat prevents access to the nectar from crawling insects. Long entrances to the nectar dish discourages bees and wasps from accessing the nectar but allow hummingbirds access due to their long beaks and tongues. Polycarbonate design is easy to clean and clear base makes it easy to see when a re-fill is necessary. Rail along the outside makes it possible for hummers to perch. I have tried many, many feeders. The tray type quickly proved best as they don't drip and pump out their nectar with every temperature or pressure change in the weather and HummZingers are the best. Cheaper feeders have been out of balance and hang at odd angles allowing them to only be partially filled and their plastic yellows and does not survive well in the dishwasher.
This is my second HummZinger feeder and they both perform well. My other one is three years old and still going strong. They both hang horizontally and their simple design, while not being as fancy as others is easy to clean and the hummingbirds don't notice the difference. It's plastic but it's higher quality than ones I've bought from big box home centers. The HummZinger is easier to clean and has survived multiple trips through the dishwasher without shrinking, yellowing or warping. It's one of those things were two things side by side can initially look the same but the quality of the material makes a difference. Other feeders lasted a season or two but my old HummZinger still shows no signs of dying so I assume this one will last a long time as well. It's the only feeder I will buy in the future.
Then, I found these feeders and they solved the problem. I had to gradually change out the feeders as it takes a while for the hummingbirds to accept a new feeder, but once I was left with only this type of feeder, no more bees! The bees can smell the nectar, but cannot access it so they don't hang around. After a couple of weeks, I tried putting out a barrel-type feeder again and had to take it right down as the bees came back immediately.
The feeder is easy to clean and easy to hang. The hummingbirds also like the perch all the way around. My dogs and I have our back porch back too.
AFTER A SEASON OF USE: __________________________ You won't be sorry with Amazon First Nature 3051 instead of this one.
The always loose cover allows insects to enter from underneath. RATING REVISED DOWN. Back to the BEST feeder ever used: Amazon (Prime) First Nature 3051. (The red base flowers of both of these don't attract bees and wasps as much as the yellow ones do).
