Assailing the Gates of Hell addresses the central threat Christianity currently faces. Their current success will ultimately prove to be a blip on the radar in the grand scheme of history. King Jesus will conquer all, and He will use His church to accomplish this victory. Now is not the time for passivity. Now is the time to actively fight the forces of darkness and lay the foundations for the coming victory of Christ.

Jan Adriaan Schlebusch is a historian, philosopher, and theologian. He holds two B.A. degrees (Theology and Latin) and a Master's degree in Philosophy from the University of the Free State in South Africa. In 2018 he graduated with a PhD from the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands.

He regularly publishes papers in peer-reviewed academic journals—both in English and in his native Afrikaans. Since 2021 he has been the executive director and a senior researcher at the Pactum Institute, an independent academic research institute dedicated to the scholarly advancement of biblical Christianity in the fields of theology and the humanities.

Many of our churches, especially in Big Eva, have lost their way and become institutions for those who have fallen asleep and are no longer fighting. If you have read Rod Dreher and wish he went beyond pointing out the problem to offering a way forward, then this book is for you.

The author spans an broad swath of western history without dumbing it down and without writing a tome. Intellectually deep while still being accessible to people without a philosophy or theology degree.

To write serious intellectual content, while staying accessible and modest in length, is incredibly difficult and speaks to the author's brilliant mind.

This book is an enormous blessing to the true church.

The need of our day is not trendy self help messages but men with a spine of steel that tell biblical truth. The author shows that in this work and this is much needed in the Church today. This is a book to buy & read and then hand out to anyone and everyone that would read. Will be a fruitful book for years to come!

Just another blight on the name of Christ

This man might be at war with the left, but, rest assured, Christ is not. If Christ is at war with anything, it is with sin, and there is plenty of sin on the "left" and "right" to go around. Apparently, this fact is ignored. A political focus regularly corrupts ones theology.

This book is taking Matthew 16 way out of context. Christ speaks of the church's power through the preaching of the Gospel, not its physical ability to restrain/remove sin.

The war that Christianity exists in is a spiritual one, not a carnal. It is not one where guns and knives are used to compel people to obey. That is not our given job. It never shows up in Scripture. It is not one to be desired either, as compelling individuals does not change their heart.

I would avoid this man and his book, and just spend some time studying your Bible.
