Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood is an epic action game for PlayStation 3 set across a blend of present and historical time periods, that places the player in the role of the leader of a Renaissance-era guild of assassins out for vengeance against the remnants of the Knights Templar. Set primarily in Rome, this sequel to the critically acclaimed Assassin's Creed II features returning characters from the previous game and includes new features such as the ability to command members of your guild in combat, a new arsenal of weapons and multiplayer game support in which players can assume different assassin characters. .caption { font-family: Verdana, Helvetica neue, Arial, serif; font-size: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-style: italic; } ul.indent { list-style: inside disc; text-indent: -15px; } table.callout { font-family: verdana; font-size: 11px; line-height: 1. 3em; } td.vgoverview { height: 125px; background: #9DC4D8 url(https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/G/01/electronics/detail-page/callout-bg.png) repeat-x; border-left: 1px solid #999999; border-right: 1px solid #999999; padding-left: 20px; padding-right: 20px; padding-bottom: 10px; width: 250px; font-family: verdana; font-size: 12px; }

Multiple Ways to Play
Expanding on the game world woven across the first two games in the franchise, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood provides players with multiple ways to play. In single player mode you take on an engrossing campaign playing as Ezio, the hero from Assassin's Creed II, who has now risen to the level of Master Assassin. Here players scour the expansive environment of Renaissance-era Rome, tasked with ridding the Eternal City of the continuing stain of the Templars and in the process ensuring the survival of the guild of assassins. You are not in this alone though. Additional AI members of your guild are at your command, and can be summoned to your aid if need be. In addition to this, for the first time in the Assassin's Creed franchise players can compete with other would-be assassins in multiplayer action. In multiplayer modes players choose from a range of Assassin characters, each with their own backstory, unique weapons and assassination techniques. Choose your assassin character, utilize the virtual reality capabilities of Abstergo Industries' Animus technology and match your skills against other assassins from around the world. There's no time like now to join the Brotherhood.
Deadly Weapons Arsenal
Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood features a wide variety of weapons, depending on the mode of play. In single player players primarily utilize Ezio's weapons of choice, the hidden blade and crossbow, while in multiplayer modes players gain access to a wide variety of weapon, depending on the character they choose to play as. Examples of this include: the Axe, wielded by the Executioner; the Fan, used by the Courtesan; the Syringe, the tool by the Doctor; the Dagger, used by the Priest; the Switchblade, carried by the Prowler; and the Claw, used by the Nobleman.

-The Good
This game is visually beautiful. The switch from console to PC really shines through here. I built a gaming rig about three years ago and I can run everything on max settings with no problems. Everything from the city and surroundings to the character textures look beautiful.
I'd also like to add, I've spent several days with this game and have encountered not a single bug/glitch. Perhaps this was more of an issue around the time of launch but it would appear Ubisoft has since corrected any problems.
-The Bad
My problem with this game (and with the entire Assassin's Creed franchise at this point) is that this is the third game I've played through and it's still the exact same formula. The single player story is pretty good, although brief. The majority of the game play however consists of the same trivial, monotonous tasks that I've already played through in the first two games: synchronize your map by climbing towers, earning money to buy art, weapons, armor, etc, and performing some side tasks for factions which have nothing to do with the main plot of the story. What's worse is that there really isn't even a reward for completing these tasks other than being able to say that you did it. Unless you are adamant about getting 100% completion on this game, I would say 75% of the tasks that you do are nothing more than "busy work" and have no effect on the story whatsoever.
It's also worth mentioning (no spoilers here) that the game doesn't really "end", just like the first two games. It's like you're just playing another chapter in the series until Ubisoft wants to get another $60 out of everybody. I would prefer that a game's plot be more like a movie, with a definitive beginning and end - not sitting in the theater for two hours and getting a "To be continued..." which is exactly what Assassin's Creed continues to do.
Aside from the story, my only other issue here is a minor one and that is the controls for PC. I played through the entire game using a keyboard and mouse. While it generally worked fine, there where a few points where trying to make jumps without analog was a bit of a trial and error process. It wasn't so bad that I would suggest buying a controller but just be warned.
-Conclusion
If you can purchase this game at a very low price and are expecting nothing more than a quick run through the story mode, you probably won't be disappointed. Beyond that, I really wouldn't recommend this game to anyone unless you are an absolute die hard fan of the series. Personally, I don't care to invest several days into a game doing menial tasks just so I can brag about my 100% synchronization rating. I don't know about AC3 or future installments of the game, but if something hasn't drastically changed I'm over this franchise.
***In case you're wondering, my PC is running an AMD Phenom II 1100T X6 CPU, 8GB RAM, and a single XFX 6950 2GB GPU
This game was my first time downloading a game from Amazon. While downloading, I noticed that my speed was about 2/3 of what I usually get, so it took a little longer to complete. I found that strange because I receive my full speed when downloading from Steam and in general downloads. Not sure if it was a fluke or something; guess I'll find out on my next purchase.
NOTE: Amazon download of this game only updates to version 1.02. The latest patch, v1.03, did not work for me (as of this posting); so multi-player may be affected if someone else is running a different version.
But...this was the worst performing game I have ever played on a pc. I downloaded the game through Amazon which took three tries to work. Once installed it seemed to work well even at the highest settings but it would then just completely crash my system. Over...and over...and over again. Basically you would be playing and the computer would just shut off, boot back to a blue screen and would take two more reboots to get back into the system.
I'm working with a fairly new Core i5 2.66Ghz, 4gb ram, Radeon 6550M integrated graphics card with Win7 64bit on my laptop. Sure, it is a laptop and the game would tax the system and make it much hotter than it should be but I found that wasn't the issue. Even after turning down all the graphics and the laptop ran at a reasonable temperature the same thing would happen. The error log said something about a WMI error that I found a fix for on the Microsoft website but this wouldn't fix the issue.
While I did complete the game it was only after dealing with dozens of crashes and reboots. If it didn't just shut down the system it would also become extremely laggy to the point where you would have to manually reboot.
My issue isn't with the gameplay or the look of the game - both were superb. My issue is that it just didn't work on my system when it really should have.
