The Hidden Blade
The Hidden Blade is a compact and deadly device which has become a defining mark of the Assassin Brotherhood. It is a three part folding blade designed to quickly extend or retract as the user wishes. The blade is usually housed in a bracer and hidden on the underside of the forearm, stretching across the palm and reaching well past finger length when extended. While the blade is retracted it is nigh undetectable, until the precise moment that its owner puts it to use, making it a silent and deadly weapon. Possessing one is the mark of a true Assassin.
The first recorded use of a Hidden Blade was during an assassination in 465 BCE. The weapon used was composed of a simple mechanism that was worn on the right arm, and extended the Hidden Blade from under the sleeve. This Hidden Blade changed the Order’s means of assassination, as Assassins had hitherto relied upon daggers, poison and even serpents to do their work.
Throughout the centuries, the Hidden Blade has taken on several ritualistic aspects, with the very mechanism of the weapon refined to reflect the importance of its use, as well.
Now you can wield the Assassin's legendary Hidden Blade and Gauntlet; a must-have collectible accessory for fans of the Assassin's Creed franchise. This life-size replica of Jacob's signature weapon in Assassin's Creed Syndicate features a functional hidden blade. Display this as part of your collection or wear it to complete the ultimate Assassin look.
Top customer reviews
First off, this is definitely made for adults. The sizing won’t fit anyone smaller than a fairly large teen, and that is probably a good thing. The hidden blade is spring-loaded, and while it’s made of plastic, it is pretty easy to imagine someone getting accidently hurt with some rough play.
All that being said, it looks pretty amazing. From a short distance it is fairly convincing that it is made of the leather and brass, but with close inspection it’s pretty clear that it’s painted plastic. Even my wife, who otherwise has some distain for any of my toys, thought this looked pretty cool and realistic. For adult sized humans it fits pretty well. And did I mention that the hidden blade is actually spring loaded? It’s pretty cool to see it pop out when the button is pushed. The gauntlet also has a bit of a safety feature—rotate the disk the button for the blade is on, and it locks the blade in the retracted position so you can’t accidently stab anyone, including yourself.
Speaking of stabbing yourself, that’s probably the only drawback to this item…you have to have your hand open and a bit away from the spring-loaded blade, otherwise you risk hitting yourself when it extends. I did this to myself a few times (um…yes…in order to best test this item….yes….), and while it caused injury, it did smart a bit.
Overall, a great item if it fits in your cosplay/roleplay/other play needs. Recommended.
BUT FYI it comes unprotected without being in a box so if it's a gift you better intercept that before your boyfriend sees it and it ruins the surprise of his bday present :/
Don't get me wrong though I appreciate conserving the extra shipping materials especially since Amazon hasn't always been the most efficient at that :)
Same product that was over $60 earlier. Like noted from other reviews, and on the box, NOT a kid toy.
It is made of thick rubber like plastic, fits well over a jacket or coat as you would for a costume. And unless your looking at it up close, it gives a nice look of leather and metal and has alot of detail. A steal for under $20 even if you keep it has a shelf queen and a must for a fan.
This came very fast...I placed the order and it said Tuesday it would be here and when i got home Monday it was waiting at my door!!!
The package was clean and nice
The product was very clean and ku.....just like the pic i couldnt be happier about this great buy!!!!
I like the blade lock they put in place to avoid accidental discharge of the blade.
Over all, a good costume prop but I wouldn't recommend as a toy for a kid to play with. Would be too big for most kids arms, difficult to adjust and the blade mechanism actually comes out with some force plus the flimsy mechanism issue I mentioned, I'd worry it would break pretty early in. The blade is of course plastic but I could see someone getting hurt if they weren't carful.
Using it as a costume piece to wear to Ren faire
