What I found particularly off-putting, though, was the story about Akitadea and his wife. We have gone through the death of one wife in childbirth but this time we have a second miscarriage and the apparent failure of his marriage. There was too much mental anguish and the self-centered brooding that you find in detectives from the Scandinavian countries. I think its time for the author to give the man a break and let his personal life get back on a more positive track. I know that in the time period that women did not have much say so in what went on in their lives but I did think that this wife would have been more involved in the mystery part of the story. This seemed to be happening at the start but quickly deteriorated into he and she not communicating and each going off in a huff and not speaking.
I will wait to read some of the reviews of #16 to see if it is worth my time to buy it.
