This book is fantastic. I've been a Commodore fan for years, but recently started collecting Apple II stuff. This book is comparable to Jum Butterfield's machine language book for the Commodore series. It's very well written, straight to the point, and covers the basics of interfacing with the system beyond just 6502 instructions. Graphics, Sound, etc, and even uses the construction of a simple pong game to teach the process. Great book, a must have for any 8 bit collector or programmer. Also the hard cover version is beautiful.. no dust jacket, but a nice printed cover (thank you, I hate dust jacket type covers, they always get torn).
Well done Sir.

This has been one of the most straight forward and immediately useful books I have purchased with regards to computer programming, either in general, or on a specific subset of programming topics.

What can I say... It's really the best if you are into Assembly on A][. My only regret is that I'm so busy now I'll probably have this book sitting on my desk and taunting me until I have the time to enjoy it. I had to get it while I could and hardbound!

Great book for newbies interested into programming in the “old way”, so as for average high-level language programmers that want to improve machine’s low level knowledges.

This book contains the full (and corrected!) text of the original classic published by Softalk Magazine as a comb-bound volume (that is kept in a good place to reach on my Apple II bookshelf) as well as 18 totally new articles that were never published in the magazine. Just the appendices alone could make this book your new single-volume reference to 6502 and 65C02 assembly language. Each opcode and its addressing modes are described and its use is shown in a brief example.
If you are already familiar with the basics of assembly language programming, then you will find that the arrangement of the chapters makes it easy to pick just the particular topics that interest you, such as DOS programming, or high-res graphics. This is a book that I have put high up on my Apple II bookshelf, also within easy reach as a frequent reference book.

The Book" was probably the Best Tutorial I have ever read on Assembly Language Programming
Reviewed in the United States on January 31, 2015
In 1985-1986, the Community College ( Jr. College ) I was attending used the Franklin Ace 1000 and Franklin Ace 1200 for teaching their Computer Architecture Class, which Included learning Assembly Language.. The Franklin Computers were an Apple ][+ Clone with Lower Case letter support. I was an In-Lab Computer Tutor, and there were no other Tutors familiar with the Computer architecture Class and MOS6502 Assembly Language. So I bought the predecessor to this book, "Assemble Lines: The Book" and in one weekend, learned enough 6502 Assembler to successfully help the Computer Architecture Class students complete any of their assignments. I was 19-20 years old at the time, but "Assemble Lines: The Book" was probably the Best Tutorial I have ever read on Assembly Language Programming. "Assemble Lines: The Complete Book" contains all of "Assemble Lines: The Book", plus and additional 18 Chapters from the Same Author. For learning the MOS6502, this is The Book to get!!!
