After reading both of Irene Hannon's suspense series, I was in a mood for another good suspense book. The first few pages of this book caught my attention and everything went downhill after Shane (the bodyguard) and Katherine - his assignment and the main character - shared a dance and talked about her parents hiring him to protect her. I guess the author wanted to portray a strong independent main character who was being threatened and needed protection to stay alive. I expected Katherine to be more afraid because of the danger, humble, and work together with Shane in a more productive way to solve the mystery of who wanted her dead.
Instead Katherine was a complete nuisance and she got on my nerves more than once.
She showed fear for her life for a fleeting moment then opened her mouth to say she was tricked into going in protective custody. She was furious and always wanted to prove she could handle things. She didn't listen or follow instructions. She had a mind of her own, which continually got innocent people in danger. Shane was always running after her, either for damage control or to pull them out from whatever situation Katherine's "independent strike" landed them in. Their romance was a turn off. I think it's ok to be attracted to your client, but act on those feeling AFTER the job is completed. I skipped pages and read the ending which had been predictable from the beginning. A complete waste of time!

Assignment: Bodyguard is a part of the CHAIM series. Though each of the books in this series are excellent, the first book (Secret Agent Minister) and Assignment Bodyguard are my favorite. Good suspense when the villain isn't discovered until near the need.

This is another great novel of suspense and romance and trust. Sometimes people are not worthy of our trust but God always . Working through different levels of trust the tale takes you to the point of living or dying, do you trust or not.
