The AP Stylebook is widely used as a writing and editing reference in newsrooms, classrooms and corporate offices worldwide.
The Associated Press releases a new edition each spring, compiling additions and changes that have been made throughout the year on AP Stylebook Online.
The 2018 Stylebook features about 200 new and updated entries, including the following:
-- A new chapter with expanded guidance on polls and surveys.
-- New guidance on emoji, including how to quote emoji and its proper plural usage.
-- A new entry on marijuana and medical marijuana adds more terminology and usage details.
-- Biracial/multiracial is now acceptable when relevant, though one should be specific about a person’s background when it’s pertinent. Avoid mixed-race unless the story subject prefers that term.
-- A new entry on act, amendment, bill, law, measure, ordinance, resolution, rule and statute explains the distinctions.
-- Beginning a sentence with a numeral-and-letter combination is now allowed: 3D movies are drawing more fans.
-- Other new or revised entries include sexual harassment and sexual misconduct; survivor; victim; homepage; lists and bulleted lists; today and tonight; LEED; coworking; HIPAA; gig economy; and storm names.
-- Nearly two dozen entries, ranging from matcha to churros, have been added to the food chapter.
Like AP's flagship spiral edition, the convenience of the e-book with its interactive Index is a must-have for any grammar enthusiast on the go.

AP pulled a fast one and, instead of publishing an updated stylebook every two years, put one out in 2018 after it had published the 2017 edition. While the changes are relatively few in the main section, it is always best for professionals to have the most-current edition.

I was required to get this book for a journalism class and it is honestly incredibly helpful. It teaches you and tells you the proper way to format articles. If you are a journalism major/ serious journalist it is an incredibly resourceful tool. They release an updated version of this book quite often, but based on what my Professors have told me, any version of this book is good.

I have been using AP Stylebooks for more years than I am willing to admit! The first stylebook was mere pages whereas today's guide is a true bible for editors and writers. There are so many AP style changes against old longtime usage anymore that it is hard to keep track of the changes year to year. The front of the guide says there have been more than, ooops, over 200 changes to this stylebook, yet only a few dozen are detailed on that entry page. It would be nice to see a complete summary of all changes to become up-to-date with all changes since the last edition. I'll keep buying this book every few years, but that summary needs to be more detailed.

Added this to my library as soon as the new edition came out. As a writer, beta reader, and critique partner for others I find this an invaluable tool to have at my disposal.

I do recommend the online subscription over a printed copy, since it also has the "As the Editor" section." However, there's something nice about having a paper copy to thumb through too.

This is a great resource for journalists to have on hand, and I personally think this version is much sleeker than the spiral-bound copy.

I bought this because it was course material for one of my classes and I got it at a great price compared to my university’s bookstore and used my Prime Student benefits to get it within 2 days.

I have the 2008 version of this and I am shocked by all the changes and phrases that are now not politically correct.

Coupled with the Chicago Manual of Style, you will have the complete set.
Be aware that the printing quality is not top notch, but it's the content I'm reviewing, right.

No writer should be without this book. If you want to write correctly, you need to write according to what the AP stylebook tells you.
