And here´s what a reader in France says in a 4-star review of Consuming the Muse: Two sides of the same coin?
Consuming the Muse? First time readers of Erotica or not AstridL will have you laughing one minute, blushing or flushing the next and even squeeze a tear or two out of you now and then. My advice though is to couple this book with Sylvia Petter's Mercury Blobs. Why? Check out the review of Mercury Blobs, then take the plunge and buy both books.

Blog postHappy to report that my story, “Dream Eros”, is now available as a mobile download from Ether Books.
“Dream Eros” was written during the 2006 Vienna Poetry Academy workshop contribution to the Wiener Festwochen, Orpheus in Eurydike, with teachers Augusta Laar and Ernst Molden. Proceeds from the workshop went to aid prostitutes wishing to quit the oldest profession.

Blog post"Vichyssoise" came over well at the Labfactory gig, Sex: Erotic Reading II on Friday night, as did the excerpts from the "Little Porn Glossary", a work in progress. It was the first time that one of my AstridL stories was read aloud, so it was a premiere of sorts. The experience augurs well for the WIP.14 years ago Read more

Have a look at how sexy trees can be. Here are some pix of trees in Vienna commisioned by Baumchirurgie Saller. The ad company, Lowe, won awards for the posters in 2006 and 2007. Hope they're still up when I'm back in Vienna.

Blog postJosefine Mutzenbacher was a Viennese prostitute who lived in the second half of the 19th Century. There's a translation of her autobiography here and here. The author of this erotic autobiography is given as anonymous, but today authorship is attributed to Felix Salten, author of Bambi. In Vienna there's a walking tour called Josefine Mutzenbacher - following the paths of lust in old Vienna. There's more on the tour over at Merc's World.15 years ago Read more

Blog postFrédérique Monge is an artist in the South of France who does the most sensual portraits of flowers, fruits and vegetables. I visited her atelier years ago and she's still going strong in her own unique way. Still buzzing around in my head is the idea of doing an erotic cookbook laced with her portraits of fruits and vegetables. Any takers? Just let me know and I'll get the balls rolling.15 years ago Read more

Blog postI’ve had an idea for a story and don’t know how to go about it. First I had the characters, but they didn’t go anywhere. So much for characters first.
Then I went back and thought about what they were doing when they met. Observing. Well where? Location. What’s so special about the location? Found something. OK. How do they react to it and each other? I mean, that maybe where you are gives you a different spin on how you react at a given moment and towards a particular person, as op15 years ago Read more -

Most of the UK’s top flash fiction writers and teachers offered workshops and talks and readings at the Flash Fiction Festival: David Gaffney, Tania Hershman, Calum Kerr, David Swann, Vanessa Gebbie, Kit de Waal, Paul McVeigh, Peter Blair, Ashley Chantler, KM Elkes, Meg Pokrass, Jude Higgins, Christopher Fielden and Michael Loveday. Plus distinguished international guest and leading exponent of the form, Pamela Painter, from the United States.
“It was a wonderful assembly of authors and editors and ‘students’ – though the students already seemed like authors.”
—Pamela Painter
“You managed to create a relaxed yet focussed ambiance so that participants could let anxieties fall away, have fun writing and immersing themselves in craft and other skills, soaking up all the varied and sparkling influences that abounded.”
—Vanessa Gebbie
“...I had previously come across the genre, viewing it more or less exclusively as something light and whimsical but I had completely under estimated its potential and the discipline involved. It was these latter two aspects that intrigued me...”
—Patricia Wallace
“...comments and insights from the workshops showed me how the embryonic idea I started with could be developed and given depth.”
—Mary Bevan
Sensual: of the senses or the indulgence of appetite: fleshy, sensory; devoted to, or preoccupied with, the senses or appetites; voluptuous...
Food, drink, Dionysian indulgences, passion, obsession dominate AstridL’s collection of erotic stories. Some are amuse-bouches, ‘By the Skin of the Nose,’ and others a groaning-board of orgiastic excess. I loved ‘Dancing with Chopsticks’ and chuckled through, ‘It’s All in the Nose.’ Appetites of all sorts are bound together as the most essential of human need, and it’s done with intelligence and wit, with twists that lend piquancy in unexpected places and ways. Interspersing these are the palate cleansing, ‘Soul Kill’ and, notably, the gentle, sad, ‘Just Lunch.’ What struck me as I read through the book was the growing maturity of voice in the stories, playful, naughty, stunning, turning thoughtful, detailed, beautifully crafted. It’s an interesting read, complex and varied. I hope you enjoy it. ~ Helena Settimana.
AstridL has a wonderful way of combining the art of arousal with the art of cooking. Her writing mixes both subjects in such a beautiful way as to arouse all of one’s senses at once. What an incredible feat and such a luscious treat for her readers. ~ Jamie Joy Gatto (Editor-in-Chief of Mind Caviar)
