5 inch PU Velcro Backing Pad.
From the manufacturer
Foam, Wool, Paper, Microfiber & More
Whether it's for a 7424XP or 21mm Bigfoot polisher, DA or finisher sander, the 4607 is designed to be versatile enough to work on most all pad materials.
New Stronger Adhesive & J-Hook
Using a thicker J-Hook design made from a more heat resistant material, and implementing a new stronger adhesive, the hook & loop backing now lasts even longer in heavy use applications.
Astro's Exclusive 29 Degree Taper
By using a medium-hard density poly foam with a thin gradual tapered edge, the 4607 acts more like a soft pad on the edges for feathering work and tight curves, while lasting longer overall for the tough work.

I replaced the Backing Pad with my new Astro, from Amazon, and the pads now last longer, with no damage to the back of the pad! An easy 5 stars!!
I was completely new to polishers/detailing. I didn't know what type of pad would fit my machine, or how they attached. I only bought this because another Amazon reviewer mentioned the HF polisher in his review. I wrote this lengthy review to help out a novice, like I was.
If you buy the Harbor Freight DA Polisher and you plan to use 6" foam pads (like they sell at HF), buy this!
My pads stay in place perfectly and I'm VERY pleased with my results.
I also ordered Meguiars Ultimate Compound,Ultimte Polish and their Supreme Shine microfiber from Amazon. My black Camaro now looks perfect! I'm amazed at the professional results!
No surprise, Amazon's service was awesome, as always.
Edit - still going strong after much use. I added a photo of my black grand piano after detailing with the DA.
I replaced the stock HF backing plate with this one and it has largely alleviated those problems. It is a direct fit for the HF unit. This plate is almost the exact diameter of the velcro portion of the HF (and most other brand's) pads. Now when in use, the foam portion of the pad simply flexes instead of striking the velcro portion of the plate. This backing plate is also more flexible than the HF plate which helps when polishing non-flat surfaces. I've used this for quite some time now and have had no issues with its durability or any balancing problems.
Tip: included with the ASTRO is a small black plastic ring. If your backing pad is rubbing slightly against the PC gaurd, take ASTRO off, put small ring onto ASTRO stud on back, and then reinstall pad. The ring is like a small shim and makes all the difference in the world. Your PC should have come with a small ring like this as well.
I contacted customer service (number listed on packaging) after the velcro melted and they immediately sent a free replacement. So customer service I will give a solid 5/5. I'll report back if I have problems with the replacement unit as well. If it lasts, this product is easily a 5/5.
Even though balance is not really a factor when using a random orbiting polisher, I checked the balance on this backing pad just the same. The balance is excellent. I contribute balance to fatigue . The better balanced a backing pad is, the less fatigue I feel when polishing or waxing my car. It may just be me, but when a backing pad starts to fail - I feel more fatigue.
The Velcro backing has extra gripping power. It's so strong that I thought I was going to rip the pad when taking it off. I figured out that holding onto both this backing pad and then pulling the pad off by the Velcro works best. I like to use different pads for both applications and different brands. I found that this extends the life of the pad, because I'm not using that same pad that much. In using this method, a good backing pad is a must - this backing pad seems to be working and doing a fine job. The extra washers is also a plus. I don't plan on removing the backing pad, but it's nice to know that I have extra washers if I do happen to lose one.
All in all, works well and has not shown any sign of wear after about 50 hours of use. Will buy again as needed.
Seemed to get pretty hot even with pads that have the holes in the center could be the polisher but the machine seemed pretty cool other than this backing plate
