Those failures aren't covered by the manufacturer's warranty. If your product fails for other reasons during the term of the original manufacturer's warranty, you'll be directed to the original manufacturer for service. After the original manufacturer's warranty expires, Canopy covers virtually anything that can go wrong with your product.

3-Day Service Guarantee — Details

If we can't repair your product, we'll replace it with a new or refurbished product with similar features and functionality, or with an Amazon.com Gift Card for the original purchase price of the product (plus tax).

National Electronics Warranty LLC (NEW), your Canopy Protection Plan's administrator, will fix your product and ship it back to you within 3 business days of receiving it at the repair facility. You won't find faster or better service. Why? NEW has been the innovator in service for almost 3 decades.

For items requiring in-home service (typically some electronics and major appliances), NEW will have an authorized technician in your home within 3 business days of reporting your claim.

In the event National Electronics Warranty LLC (NEW) is unable to fulfill the 3-business-day service guarantee, NEW will refund the cost of your plan upon request. Service guarantee refunds will be issued to you directly by NEW and not by Amazon.com.

After the manufacturer's warranty has expired, we commit to a 3-day service guarantee with the following details:

  • Customers must be available for an in-home appointment during the 3 business day period following the initial claim. If unavailable, we will schedule an appointment based on customer availability, but the 3-day guarantee will not apply

  • If parts are required but unavailable to complete a repair, the guarantee may not apply. Any way you look at it, your parts are worth waiting for

  • The guarantee does not include transit times or shipping times. Why? Because transit and shipping times are out of our hands

My Vita through no fault of my own stopped charging. I sent it to Sony for what I thought was a warranty covered issue, but after waiting 2 weeks for the whole Sony process, they sent my Vita back to me saying that the problem with my Vita was basically my doing. I contacted Canopy after getting my broken Vita back from Sony and explained the problem to them and that Sony denied me warranty coverage. The rep that helped me came to the conclusion that my Vita had experienced some sort of electrical surge damage, which I myself couldn't determine if that was the case or not, but hey if it got my Vita replaced or repaired, I'd agree. They emailed me a UPS packing slip with additional instructions (pack Vita with receipt). Getting a box was up to me. As was explained to me, once Canopy received notification from UPS that my broken Vita had been shipped to them, I would receive an email with an Amazon.com code that I could use towards purchasing a new Vita from Amazon. My Vita was a Walking Dead Christmas specially-priced version ($179.99), so unfortunately the amount of the Amazon.com code wasn't enough to cover the cost of a Vita now (the only drawback out of the Canopy experience). My plan was a $175-$200 plan, and Canopy gave me back $192.50. You can see from current Amazon pricing that a new Vita goes for at least $240 plus. So I had to pay the difference when ordering a new Vita. Which when you think about it is still way better than purchasing a replacement Vita starting with no funds at all. If possible, I'd say make sure whatever plan you select that it covers the actual value, not the purchase price. Don't repeat my mistake.

I bought this plan to go with my son's PS Vita that I purchased for him. I usually do this sort of thing for big electronic purchases, especially for anything that one of my kids are going to be using. I have never had to use one of the plans before. Until now. My son has his Vita for almost a year and a half and then one day it just wouldn't power on. Power cable tested out okay. Manufacturer warranty had expired, but have no fear Canopy's Protection Plan had me covered! Filing a claim was relatively simple. They emailed me a prepaid shipping label. I packed up my son's unit and sent it in. Canopy put 100% of my purchase price back into my Amazon account.

I have absolutely no complaints about their service. The plan did exactly what it said it would do. I will definitely purchase protection plans from them again in the future in case another disaster strikes. I would highly recommend their service to anyone.

I bought this warranty for my first-generation Xbox One, because there were early reports that a decent percentage of the first-generation consoles experienced problems with the disc drive. Sure enough, about 18 months after I bought my console, and after the manufacturer's warranty had expired, I began to experience problems with my disc drive. I made a claim under this warranty, and I was exceedingly impressed with the service that I received.

At first, I experienced a hiccup with receiving my return label via e-mail. I called them to follow up, they set up my claim under a different e-mail address for me, and it was very smooth sailing thereafter. I returned my console to them, their website kept me apprised of the status of the repair, they completed the repair within a day of receiving the console, I received my console back within about 1.5 weeks of sending it to them, and so far the console has been working just fine. With the exception of the issue with receiving the return label, it was an extraordinarily smooth and low-maintenance process, and I'd definitely buy a warranty from them in the future.

That said, just FYI, the "2-year" warranty really only provides one year of protection over and beyond the 1-year manufacturer's warranty. Also, after I bought this warranty, I learned that the Visa card with which I bought my Xbox automatically matches the manufacturer's warranty. So, before you buy a "2-year" warranty on a product that has a 1-year manufacturer's warranty, it would probably be a good idea to find out if your credit card matches the manufacturer's warranty. In light of the awesome experience that I had with this warranty (and the relatively minimal expense of this warranty), I'm still glad that I bought it. But, if I'd known that my credit card matches the manufacturer's warranty, I might not've bought this warranty, or I might've bucked up for a longer warranty instead.

The cover plan will be email with 48 hours after your order confirmation. There are no requirements to register, just purchase this along with your device and it's covered according to Canopy FAQ's. When you need to use it, just call the number provided. The plan will begin the day that you purchase your device.

What I like about the electronic coverage is that you no longer need a hard copy receipt which can be lost or prints that are faded in time. You can always go back to history and find your receipts. The cover plan is worth every penny for first generation of any electronics.

If you have a child that breaks every piece of electronic equipment he buys, always buy a protection plan. In the long run, it is a big money saver and prevents conflict when the nearly new item is broken.
