Canopy Protection Plans even protect your product during the term of your original manufacturer's warranty by covering failures due to power surges. Those failures aren't covered by the manufacturer's warranty. If your product fails for other reasons during the term of the original manufacturer's warranty, you'll be directed to the original manufacturer for service. After the original manufacturer's warranty expires, Canopy covers virtually anything that can go wrong with your product.

3-Day Service Guarantee — Details

If we can't repair your product, we'll replace it with a new or refurbished product with similar features and functionality, or with an Amazon.com Gift Card for the original purchase price of the product (plus tax).

National Electronics Warranty LLC (NEW), your Canopy Protection Plan's administrator, will fix your product and ship it back to you within 3 business days of receiving it at the repair facility. You won't find faster or better service. Why? NEW has been the innovator in service for almost 3 decades.

For items requiring in-home service (typically some electronics and major appliances), NEW will have an authorized technician in your home within 3 business days of reporting your claim.

In the event National Electronics Warranty LLC (NEW) is unable to fulfill the 3-business-day service guarantee, NEW will refund the cost of your plan upon request. Service guarantee refunds will be issued to you directly by NEW and not by Amazon.com.

After the manufacturer's warranty has expired, we commit to a 3-day service guarantee with the following details:

  • Customers must be available for an in-home appointment during the 3 business day period following the initial claim. If unavailable, we will schedule an appointment based on customer availability, but the 3-day guarantee will not apply

  • If parts are required but unavailable to complete a repair, the guarantee may not apply. Any way you look at it, your parts are worth waiting for

  • The guarantee does not include transit times or shipping times. Why? Because transit and shipping times are out of our hands

  • The guarantee only applies to service performed in the continental United States

  • If NEW fails to fulfill the 3-business-day service guarantee as outlined above, you may request a plan refund by contacting NEW at 1-866-551-5924

Cosmetic damage? You are out of luck! Hours on the phone with computer repair and the supervisor said they "are not allowed to even open up a machine if it has any physical damage whatsoever".

This laptop was babied- never dropped or abused and if you saw it you would be impressed by the pristine appearance. If they can call THIS laptop "abused" they will take out the microscope and find some flaw to avoid fixing yours too. There were three tiny cracks in the thin plastic around where the ethernet and powercord plugs pull in and out. (two snapped one mm strips of plastic @ ethernet port and an 8mm crack under powercord port). My son told me that the plastic snapped from plugging and unplugging cords- which is normal wear and tear, not abuse. And even though the supervisor on the phone admitted that these cracks were unrelated to the screen not working, he said their policy is they will not repair any machine with any physical damage whatsoever.

Spring for more expensive coverage which covers drops and spills. http://www.amazon.com/DP/B005ERKWUC That way, the weasel clause doesn't kick in because they find a crack.

Just to be fair, when I fought with N.E.W.- the parent company which provides Canopy- they did wind up cutting me a check for the price of the laptop. So I am a satisfied customer.

Nevertheless, I want the buyer to beware that "Limitations and exclusions apply" is a huge loophole big enough to leave you in the lurch with a broken laptop.

We purchased this along with a chromebook for our daughter for Christmas. The chromebook screen went bad after only 3 months and we were unable to get any help from the manufacturer. We contacted the Canopy company and spoke with competent, helpful people. They were able to reimburse us with an Amazon gift card in exchange for the chromebook. Excellent service from knowledgable representatives! We were very glad we purchased the protection plan.

Had the machine for a little over a year. It stopped working so I returned it and it was sent back saying there was "physical damage" and they would not fix it. I am 62 years of age and no one else has touched it. Never dropped. Never had anything "spilled" on it. Will never consider a Canopy Product again. My advice... don't go here.
