3-Day Service Guarantee — Details

If we can't repair your product, we'll replace it with a new or refurbished product with similar features and functionality, or with an Amazon.com Gift Card for the original purchase price of the product (plus tax).

National Electronics Warranty LLC (NEW), your Canopy Protection Plan's administrator, will fix your product and ship it back to you within 3 business days of receiving it at the repair facility. You won't find faster or better service. Why? NEW has been the innovator in service for almost 3 decades.

For items requiring in-home service (typically some electronics and major appliances), NEW will have an authorized technician in your home within 3 business days of reporting your claim.

In the event National Electronics Warranty LLC (NEW) is unable to fulfill the 3-business-day service guarantee, NEW will refund the cost of your plan upon request. Service guarantee refunds will be issued to you directly by NEW and not by Amazon.com.

After the manufacturer's warranty has expired, we commit to a 3-day service guarantee with the following details:

  • Customers must be available for an in-home appointment during the 3 business day period following the initial claim. If unavailable, we will schedule an appointment based on customer availability, but the 3-day guarantee will not apply

  • If parts are required but unavailable to complete a repair, the guarantee may not apply. Any way you look at it, your parts are worth waiting for

  • The guarantee does not include transit times or shipping times. Why? Because transit and shipping times are out of our hands

  • The guarantee only applies to service performed in the continental United States

  • If NEW fails to fulfill the 3-business-day service guarantee as outlined above, you may request a plan refund by contacting NEW at 1-866-551-5924

Wow, that was easy. My daughter cracked the screen on her Android Tablet and all I had to do was call Canopy with the product details and my warranty # and they sent a label for shipping (free shipping for me) and I send it off to them for repair. If they can't fix it then they give me the $ to purchase a new one. Talk about user friendly and hassle free. So glad I purchased it.

Purchased this because I have had good experiences with other protection plans when I have needed to use. (Yes, I realize that when you do the math, it sounds crazy to purchase a protection plan and that you are likely better to self insure... however for tablets, phones, and other items that are heavy use in mobile environments, when it breaks, it sucks and you are out a bunch of money...)

I am comparing this to two other plans that I have purchased and have actually had to use: my wireless phone protection plans via Verizon as well as a policy I purchased from Best Buy on an iPod. I would say that I have two main complaints on this policy: 1) it takes a long time to get your device fixed and 2) the workmanship is pretty poor.

For the claims process, it was actually pretty simple. My daughter cracked the screen so bad that it was not usable. You call an 800 number and a customer service rep walks you through the process. The biggest pain about this is that you have to have the serial number which, in the case of the Galaxy Tab S is incredibly small. So small that I couldn't read it with a magnifying glass and of course, I couldn't pull it up on the screen. The agent was very nice and gave me a tip that some people take a picture of the serial number with their mobile phones and then blow it up. Seems like a common problem that could be solved with them capturing the serial number at purchase like Best Buy does.

She told me that I would receive a UPS label by email within an hour or two (this was on a Saturday). On Sunday I called back and they said that the label actually has to come from the repair center and they don't open until Monday... Monday night/Tuesday morning, I received the UPS label... it was for two day ground shipping...

I bought a Ipad. I accidentally dropped in on my garage floor and cracked the coner of the housing and a very small part of the screen. when is bounced I also got some scratches on the face of the pad so I sent it in for repair.... I got my ipad back exactly as I had sent it in except they rest it to factory settings. Read the small print because they will not address anything cosmetic. I hate to say it, but your need to almost be destroyed before they will do any repair. I would have been better off slamming it on the ground instead of trying to catch it. sorry for my line of thinking but, it makes one think about whether to do the right things or not.

Overall, my experience with Canopy was meh. The device I sent them was a Microsoft Surface pro 3, which is a very expensive device. The initial experience with was good, when I called I didn't have to wait on hold and the woman on the other end of the phone was friendly and helpful. After I gave my information, I was shortly sent an email giving me instructions on what to do next. It seemed simple, they would email me a shipping label, I would send the device into them and once they got it they would look over it and determine if it was fixable or not. The first strike was that the shipping label took several days to show up in my inbox. After I sent the Surface out, UPS tracking showed that it arrived at their headquarters. Shortly after that I got an email saying that they had received my device. So far everything was going pretty well. This is where things begin to fall apart. It took about 5 days for them to determine that it could be fixed which I think is too long. Then about 2 days after that I got another email alerting me that my device needed special order parts and would take up to 6 more day to repair. Now, keep in mind that while in the initial email it said that this could happen, I had already been without the Surface for 1.5 weeks. After that email it was about 5 days until I got another email letting me know that my device was almost done and they would provide tracking info soon. I was excited and still fairly pleased with the protection plan. The next day I get another email saying the exact same thing that the previous email stated. This struck me as odd so I gave them a call. The guy I talked to said he had no idea why it was taking so long, so he looked into it. He then told me that my Surface actually COULDN'T BE FIXED!!!!Read more ›

Compared to Best Buy's geeksquad coverage, this is unbelievable. Best Buy wants 500$ for this same protection plan on a Microsoft surface pro 3... The one and only difference is the geeksquad offer a one time battery replacement... I'd really rather save the 300$ and pay for the new battery and someone to install it after my 3 year warranty is up.

I have not had to use the insurance feature, but for the value I imagine it is for the best to choose canopy. I only give 4 stars though for not actually having exercised the policy.

Also...called geeksquad and canopy about my question.
-Canopy has very clear speaking, easy to understand assistants.
-I wasn't able to hear or understand the geeksquad very well.
