PROS: This board is truly a great motherboard. The Z77 chip-set is in my opinion the best so far. Can run RAM at 2666mhz (G-Skill Trident X 2666). Quick and "snappy" as I like to call it. No secondary chips on the PCIe lanes to slow things down. On-board graphics on the new Ivy Bridge chips are amazing!! You almost don't even need a discreet graphics card (almost).

CONS: VERY HIGH "DOA" and defect rate as delivered "new" I do not blame Amazon for this, I hold Asus and their lack of in-house quality control responsible. It has and is becoming to much the norm for companies like Asus and other computer manufacturers to use the RMA process, Warranty/return process at the purchasers expense and frustration instead of in house quality control. I believe I am now on my 5th or 6th board from Amazon. Have had to return/exchange all except for one of these motherboards because of operational defects as new. One board did not register the RAM frequencies correctly and spit out a 9 digit reading instead of the regular 4 digit. Two boards would not work at all, or would work partially. Digital display would not work on one, another would not boot regardless of power supply, CPU *(tried many which worked on other boards). Two boards came with physical damage (plastic surround broken/cracked on the clear Cmos button) The latter I would not consider a return worthy issue however, this was present on two of the boards with other problems which warranted return in and of themselves.

Looks like the latest board (so far) is running and operating as it should be. Simply amazing board when it works!!! (and I have many builds) from P67, Z68, X-79 so on and prior builds going back to the 90's.

Worked out of the box. No problems with build. I'm not a gamer, I'm using it for photoshop, but I'm very please.
The component selections are first rate ( yes, I'm a computer engineer). All the connectors are solid. Good spacing around the CPU. Solid power supply parts, good heatsinks. No traces too near screw holes, a pet peeve of mine.
The unique feature is that the board and bios are well documented. What an unexpected plus. The manual is as good as anything gets in the PC world. Keep up the good products, and manuals.

For my first gaming build, a friend recommended this merely for the FAN Xpert II that comes with ASUS AI Suite 2, as well as the performance and ASUS's rep. I have not been disappointed. Functioned flawlessly on first power up. Their (ASUS's) AI Suite is AWESOME. So much customizability is possible with it. I took my new i5 3570K from the stock clock of 3.5 ghz to 4.5 with one click in AI Suite, didn't have to fiddle around with BIOS at all to get a good, stable OC - simple as that. Running a Corsair H80i cooler keeps me at about 90 degrees F on all four cores under normal use, and the rig is almost completely silent with stock fans and the 2 CPU cooler fans through FAN Xpert2 and Corsair's LINK software. I would highly recommend this MoBo to either a first-time builder or a seasoned pro. 3 Year warranty also is a plus! Thanks for reading my review. - John T.

Contrary to the other 1 star review i read, i personally had an AMAZING experience with using this motherboard. I just built my first build and wanted to find a motherboard that had reliability and a name to back it. This thing has done great so far, the only issue i have had so far was out of the blue the computer started to blue screen when running starcraft 2. For some reason my memory settings were changed from DDR3 1600 to DDR1333. I do not know why that happened but it did and caused blue screens. It took one single dive into the BIOS and problem was easily fixed. The UEFI BIOS integrated into this MOBO make your life a whole lot easier when trying to tweak with your settings. All in all, i am very happy with this ROG board and i would suggest it over and over again. All i say to anybody trying to figure out what motherboard to purchase, just figure out what you will ACTUALLY USE features wise, search customer service reviews and buy based on that because motherboards are of an industry that is guaranteed to have at least one bad motherboard out of a single batch. If you go with a company with a good track record with customer service, your life will be easier because you did your customer service research instead of ("what is the best gaming motherboard").

This is my first kind of "premium" PC that I built (In the past I just buy stuff by the price mostly), And I`m very happy with this MOBO. it looks great, it feels great. Very easy to build my new PC with this Mobo (something very simple but I love the fact that comes with some kind of adapter for plug the case`s cable with the mobo, uff I just save like an hour with that xd).
It feels very solid components (no like the cheap`s one that I used to bought). Some kind of especial Metal sink (those one from the wall`s oven) around the components of the CPU, the "Bad" Eye from Republic of Gamers over the Z77 chip set, everything is a peace of Art (come on, I came from the cheap mobo) I use to concentrate only in the best CPU of the moment, but after a lot of reading and my experience itself (always have to replace the mobo after 2 or 3 years, I hope that i don't have to do this with this one), I stared searching for a Solid Mobo reputation, and no going for the "last" Cpu (I have the I5 3570k, 4 emulate cores more? well, maybe with "guin-dows" 8 could be important, I have to see it (guin-dows is an expression in my native language, Spanish, that make the fusion of "Guindarse"(something like fail or hang out I think) and the second syllable of Windows)) .
I highly recommend this one.
