Beautiful colors, great contrast, brightness, and speed. The default settings work great for me during the day, might be a little bright at night but I'm reluctant to tinker just yet. No dead or stuck pixels, absolutely nothing wrong. Fantastic quality.

The monitor is a little top heavy and wiggles quite a bit when my printer is printing, or when the downstairs neighbor runs their out of balance washing machine. I live in earthquake country too, so a little more ballast in the base would have been appreciated. Looking for ways to secure the base to my computer desk.

Only concern was the rebate process seemed a little shady, go to a website and register fill out and print this form, cut the upc and s/n from the box, use this label or your rebate will be denied, include packing list (which Amazon did not send) or invoice (I was able to print the invoice off the amazon site) follow all these procedures to the letter or we will deny you! Oh and the website cut off my apartment number so I had to write it on the form manually.

While it is a $20 rebate in 8-10 weeks they offer an "expedited" rebate of $18 in 5-7 days but we're warned to NOT inquire about rebate status for 3 weeks.

So I mailed the required paperwork in and over a week later I get an email indicating my rebate was approved and they'd mail out my amex card in 5-7 days. So with transit time that's actually going to be closer to three weeks, not the 5-7 days I paid extra for. If the rebate does not arrive (or is misdirected because of the apt # being truncated) I will update accordingly.

But the product itself? FANTASTIC!

Reasons for buying: 100% Gaming

I game about 20-25 hours a week.

I bought this monitor after going to a LAN event for Halo 4 in which we used Asus Monitors to play. The reason this monitor is so amazing is because of the smallest feeling; INPUT LAG (For those who don't know what input lag is, I will generalize: Input Lag is the time it takes between when you press a button on the controller and that action happening on screen). To be honest most people will never notice the difference with something like this, but for someone who plays Halo 4, Call of Duty, and other "twitch" games where every mili-second (yes mili-second) makes a difference; this is a huge feature.

So besides the input lag for gaming here are my feelings about the product as a whole:

Pros:
*Screen Tilt (The screen is very sturdy whether tilted way up or way down)
*Built in Speakers (Even though the speakers aren't awesome this was a pro for me since my play space is small and tidy.)
*Ease of use (Easy to hook up anything and switch between menus or input methods)
*Form Factor is sleek.
*No GLARE!

Cons
*All of the 'Splendid Video Intelligence Technology' presets suck, so don't buy it because of that. All of the presets are too bright, you only need about 50-60 brightness. You can adjust it to look great don't get me wrong, but they need tweaking for sure.

Also:
It took about 2-3 minutes for my Xbox to be displayed through HDMI the FIRST time turned it on. Just be aware because I thought maybe it was broken out of the box, but that seems to be general with others as well. After the first time it never happens again.

I have no regrets buying this monitor solely for gaming.

I have 2 of these monitors running on the DisplayPort settings and have found them to be fantastic units. The image is far superior to either DVI or HDMI units of larger size. The image is clearer, brighter, has more contrast and is significantly sharper than anoy other monitors. One thing though, don't be fooled by people talking up these monitors, they DO NOT have the (or nearly so) same viewing area as a 25" monitor. I read that here and ordered the 24" units and run them side-by-side with 25" monitors and there is a NOTICABLE reduction in viewing area, so if you want a 25" screen, buy a 25" screen because this unit is NOT the same.

A little complaint about Amazon and their shipping policies: it took Amazon 5 days to even ship these monitors, and while they did manage to get them here on THEIR schedule, it is padded to accommodate this ridiculous delay in shipping. They excuse it as "well you ordered it with free shipping" - hey, Amazon - YOU offered it that way and nowhere on your site does it say you will delay it by 5 days so you can send out paid shipping items first. If you don't want to ship these orders in a timely manner then don't offer the shipping method. While I didn't expect expedited shipping I did expect it to be shipped in a timely manner, not 5 days after ordering.

Acceptable for what I am using it for.

This is a fairly solid monitor for the price.
Here are the things I have noticed with it.

Pros:
Matte finish on screen works well against glare.
Color is good.
Monitor turns on very quickly when either monitor or computer is powered on.
Easy to assemble base or mount on mounting arm.

Cons:
Monitor has no height adjustment.
Monitor sides and back are fingerprint magnets and scratch fairly easily.
Bezel does not have a matte finish so it can sometimes reflect things.
Acceptable but not great viewing angle.
Short power cord (it might only be 4-5 feet? Power cords are cheap though.)

Most of these cons are not a big deal for me because of where and how I am mounting them but to be honest its a little disappointing for an Asus monitor. I got lucky that the reflective bezel and lack of height adjustment aren't affecting me.
If you have a bit more money to spend or these cons bother you I would look into another model. I have several other Asus monitors that I prefer over this one.

Because it is working well for me I will still give it 4 stars but keep the cons in mind.

These monitors are great. I set up a home office and wanted some decent size monitors. I ended up buying 2 x DP cables because my docking station didn't have DVI and only on HDMI. Sound coming out of them isn't the best, but I didn't buy them for sound and would probably prefer they didn't have speakers but since i use headphones for all call's etc... i never use the speakers on the monitors.

Just received the ASUS Monitor VE248Q today (21 Dec 2016 - 7 days delivery). So here's my first input - will update in the future if necessary :

- The screen (displayable screen) is exactly 24'' diagonally, as described (not 23,8'' or like some other screens being advertised as 24'').
- It came with a VGA-VGA cable, a HDMI-VGA cable and a male-male Audio Jack. No Displayport cable whatsoever (kind of disappointing and so far this is the reason why I'm giving it 4 STARS... It forces you to buy an adapter or a Displayport cable extra, which will cost you 20-40$ by itself).
- The screen is soooooo daaaaamn bright. I had to reduce the brightness to 0% for it to match my other (much older) screen and it's STILL brighter. I can't believe anyone would use this at anything more than 25% brightness ever, it'll probably just burn your retina or something (not a medical opinion).
- Plug and play, easy to use... Took me a few minutes to figure out the buttons to adjust brightness, had to use the user manual (pictographs on the screen aren't instinctive... but it doesn't matter since in the end you set it up once and then never again).

UPDATE:
Day 2, I now notice how your eyes have to be directly in front of the pixels you want to see in order to see them "sharp and crisp". By that I mean if your eyes are at the height of the top of the screen, if you look at the bottom of the screen, things are blurry there. You have to be about 30 inches away from the screen to not be impacted by this enough to be an issue. If you are closer, you will notice this (i.e.: when looking at the screen from an angle, it gets blurry). I didn't have that issue with my previous monitor. That issue seems mostly for up/down angles, not left/right.
After working with it for a day, I notice small characters are somewhat scintillating (like the border of lines that shape letters in a text, for example). I've played with all the options for over an hour, nothing to be done. I'll still give it a day or two but I'm likely to return it; at almost 250$ a piece, I'd expect it to perform better than my 7 year old screen that I got at half that price.

Disappointed, changed to 3 STARS.
