This Purchase Was Long Thought Out

I must have read every customer review of at least fifty to sixty monitors, both from here on Amazon, and several other online retailers, before hesitatingly ordering this one (VS247H-P). I say "hesitatingly", because a monitor is (or can be) a very scary thing to order. What with all of the horror stories about "dead pixels", and "stuck pixels". I was very scared to order any monitor online. But, living in a rural area inconveniently located far from any brick and mortar electronics retailers, I chose this route for convenience, and a fair price. I was not disappointed!

The first thing I did upon firing this monitor up, was to check for bad pixels. Not a one. I sighed with relief, and began to explore it's functionality. As others have stated, this thing is blindingly bright (slight exaggeration)out of the box. After adjusting that down, I went through the pre-programmed modes, and decided that none of these are exactly right for me for everyday general use. But it was not really a problem to get it adjusted manually. Just took a few days to get it to my liking. Now I find it brilliantly colored, sharp, crisp, and rich. I have no issues with ghosting, either while watching videos, movies, etc., nor while gaming. I'm sure that if I really looked hard, I could find some trace of ghosting during gaming, but I'd really have to look for it, and for the price of this monitor, who could complain.

I did, like most, find the base to be lacking in stability. But this is minor to me, since it's not unstable to the point that it's going to tip over from light jarring, or slight bumps to the monitor itself. I would say that if this bothers you, get a monitor stand to attach it to. I don't find it necessary myself. This is the only minor complaint I have for this monitor.

All in all, I highly recommend this to anyone wanting a nice, larger sized monitor. I am going to get another one for a dual monitor setup. I'm extremely satisfied with this purchase!

Edit: I did purchase another of this monitor for a dual setup, and I love it... now I'm looking at a third for surround gaming!!

I couldn't of asked for a better monitor. Its size is perfect, big enough to feel immersed in my games yet small enough so it doesn't feel as "spread out" like a tv for a console. I have had this product for a few months and have encountered none of the problems i have seen for the product. I have only one dead pixel and it is in a far corner, the stand isn't that wobbly, and the text looks perfectly fine. Games look great on ultra and the resolution of the screen is large enough for me to open up multiple word documents or websites and have them open at the same time, Great for research projects! All in all i would recommend this monitor to anyone who is interested in it. Absolutely fantastic!!!

EDIT: Ok so I'm adding on to this review since I have now had this monitor for a solid 2 years. It is by far the best purchase i could of made. Response time is amazing, it still looks just as good as the day I bought it, and nothing about it has changed. The stand didn't get loose or anything like that, no dead pixels and I completely forgot about the one in the corner. I recommended this monitor to a good friend of mine and he has been enjoying it just as much as I have for a good few months now. In case you were wondering what i have been using it for I play games on it, write essays for school, watch movies or YouTube, and frequently use Photoshop for school projects or personal use. I mainly play FPS games and I have found that this monitor makes every game look amazing and it keeps up no matter how fast I'm moving around. Good clean and crisp visuals. Not to mention that I am on my computer for hours upon hours and i never get any eye strain or headaches using this monitor. Basically what I'm saying is that if you're debating this monitor for yourself or a friend you won't be disappointing with this product. Still amazing after 2 years of hard use!

Good gaming monitor for a low price.

All in all I think you'll be hard pressed to find a better gaming monitor for such a low price, but there are definitely a few things to be aware of with this monitor. First, it seriously needs a break in period, it takes several days of use for the monitor to really come alive. I don't think I've ever had a monitor that looked so much better after it's break-in. Before break in I was about to return the monitor, colors were very washed out, the edges of the display were sort of foggy and the monitor had a lot of ghosting. I fiddled with setting and got it to a point that was reasonable but I was far from impressed. Still I didn't have time to return it right then and figured I'd give it a little more time. after a few days, with only a few hours use per day, the monitor started to become more what I had expected. The ghosting stopped, the colors warmed up and the darks got a lot better. There is still a little bit of that fogginess around the edges but it's minimal and I only notice it if I look for it. The darks on the monitor are still fairly washed out but it isn't terrible. Where this monitor shines is the quick response time and complete lack of input lag. the screen in general just looks to be much more clear than my previous one as well. If you aren't too picky and want a good gaming monitor this one is worth a try. Make sure to let it break in before you judge it though. And on amazon, if you decide you don't like it you can just send it right back!

I got this to go with my other monitor that's exactly the same and it's amazing for the price. You have different viewing settings so you can switch if you're playing a game to Game Mode or if you're watching a movie to Theatre Mode etc. I do believe it's a 60hz monitor which is one of the question I had when I got it. The only downfall with this monitor though is it is a bit dull but I'm sure I can change that if I go into the settings and mess around with it a bit.

Overall if you're looking for a cheap monitor I would get this one if you already have a good pair of speakers.
