'Dio at Donington UK: Live 1983 & 1987' features 2 CD s in a deluxe digipack with a booklet filed with rare photos from both concerts and includes both All Access Backstage Laminates from 1983 and 1987! 1983 was the first time Dio plated in the UK and their first show just happened to be the legendary Donington show! You get a taste of two different tours, the 'Holy Diver' tour from 1983 and the 'Dream Evil' tour from 1987!

Pulled from the vault some classic shows when he was in his prime.
Good quality of the songs you know and love if you like DIO and Rainbow.
Such a shame we won't see any new material, he was certainly not done writing just yet.
A unique writer with a golden voice, a true one of a kind that will never be reproduced.
I could go on and on about how instrumental DIO was the hard rock but true fans already know this.
The second show is just as exciting, promoting the DREAM EVIL album. RJD and the boys offer up an excellent mix of Rainbow, Sabbath and Dio numbers, keeping the crowd moving. My personal favorite is the excellent performance of "The Fools Sailed Away", but there is not a weak song in the set.
If you are an RJD fan, you MUST own this. Heck, if you are human and like music, you MUST own this.
The songs in 1983( disc 1) and 1987( disc 2) have some repetition in content, but its ALL good when it comes to DIO. This is a Master singer showing his art. Since it is a BBC recording, I can only hope that there might be some live footage somewhere, but I won't hold my breath, especially since the Hyde Park concerts, supposedly recorded by BBC have seen been consistently released.
Anyway, what I can say about this release is that the audio is brilliant, the Booklet is superb and the replica "ACCESS ALL AREAS" pass is a stroke of genius. Whilst it is a great item that is made available, it is in a way sad, but this Digipak, and the Great Live in Europe ( aka, Live at Wacken) 2009 is a must have to celebrate the life of a Master Hard Rock singer who gave his all for the fans.
Rest in Peace Ronnie, and for those who listen to his genius on CD, ROCK TIL YOU DROP !!
July 23, 2012: I only heard recently, that Ronnie James Dio had a hand himself in the packaging of this set.He chose the cool extras, and I understand he chose the very cool list. So, Blessed by the Dio himself, makes this double CD a special bonus
