Loved Joe and Violet so much. Them coming together was great, learning their histories, and opening up and sharing. It was emotional and full of drama, with lots of ups and downs. My heart might have dropped a few times because they were both battling so many demons, they had me stressing out. Loved their chemistry and bickering. That was fun! Joe and his alpha-male hot guy ways was pretty fantastic too. Loved the schmexy that was mixed in... super hot! And Joe with Violet’s girls, swoon. That man melts my heart. Loved it so much!
There was great development throughout for the story and with the characters. Fantastic details and depth. Loved all the layers and different storylines happening. The friendships and families coming together creating all these wonderful moments was awesome. Some funny, some sweet, all perfectly intertwined.
I laughed, cried, got choked up, held my breath and rooted for Joe and Violet the entire time. It was just an incredible story. Another Kristen Ashley must read!
And Joe- geez, learn some manners, try letting someone speak & explain. Joe was a bully. He had a tough life -- but the way he treats Violet was ugly. After breaking up twice, he finally sees the light and accepts his feelings for Violet, after a horrific tragedy. He redeems himself to some degree -- yes I wanted their HEA.
Ultimately, it was a good story, with good relationships. Not sure I plan to read more books in this series though. Just longer than it needed to be.
Vi went through so many things in this book that would break a normal person. Between the death of her husband, that she was still dealing with and more recent heartache, it was amazing that she was still standing.
So many things happened in this book that had me screaming at the page. I can't wait to check out the next book in the series!
The only problems I have with this book are:
1) Cal's rotten attitude towards Vi in the beginning.
2) The love triangle thing going on between Vi, Cal, and Mike at the beginning of the story.
After Cal came to his senses about Vi, I was able to enjoy the story more. I love how he takes care of Vi and her daughters, and he gives pretty good advice too, like the one he gave to Kate when she has boy troubles. Gosh, I adore Vi's daughters, especially Keira. She's so funny and hyper, and I love that she calls her mom 'mommalicious'.
This book was very very good. I'm not sure but maybe even better than the first book in the series. Now I sort of hated Violet at times, but then I forgave her for it. I do think that whole mess with Mike was stupid, and immature of her but she eventually learned. Other than that I thought Cal was a major jerk at first and really not worth the effort. But he proved me wrong as well. These two have tons of hang ups but eventually they find their way together and it's beautiful. I believe that's one of the things I love about KA books. She shows us people aren't perfect, they mess up but that doesn't mean they can't find something beautiful eventually!
I also love Violet's daughters. They were awesome. And one of the things Cal said to them had me in tears. It's beautiful, and it's something that I will never forget! This is a beautiful quote, and I think it says so much about life itself!
"Never bury somethin' deep, baby," He muttered. "Takes twice as much courage to be who you are, say what you think, feel what you feel and let it show then it does to bury it."
And now not only am I looking forward to the next book I'm super excited about Benny's book. I just fell in love with him, and I can not wait to see more of him!
