It's EXACTLY as described. You get 9 games free. Yes, they are all there. 4 games are in the arcade section, the other 5 are in the console section. Click on the Arcade Cabinet icon to get the arcade games. Click on the Joystick to get the console games. Yes, if you want other games, you have to buy them. Everything is exactly as described.

Ok, it's, from an app-pricing point of view, and expensive one ($7.00, I think), but, if you were alive during the beginning of the video game era, it is VERY worth the cost. I love centipede and the other 8 games that are included. They have provided me with hours of video game relaxation. It runs flawlessly on my Kindle Fire.

If you're a child of the 70s (or 80s), this is a must have app! :-)

I am really not sure why there are so many one star reviews for this product.

I was able to easily find the nine free games that it comes with. They are right in the lists available. If the game says "Play" it's there for you to play, if it says "Buy" you have to buy it.

I found the overall interface to work very well. The controls for the games also work well. Graphics and sound wise there isn't much to say...they look just like they did 25-30 years ago.

Some of your favorites are here, but a lot of them are missing too. The others are fee based and so... this is a "come-on" applet. Tried this on my Kindle Fire tablet.. didn't translate well, a PC might have worked better. Depends upon what you want, but didn't quite live up to my expectations.

In the non pro version of this app you only get one free game. If you are considering buying all the games for $9.99 do it from the free version. This app does not give the feature nor is it in the description. I have to agree with all the bad reviewers. Two dollars (the stated value of this app) on the free version of the app would only get you about 6 additional games. However you always get the option to buy all the games for $9.99. Its a good value for a die hard Atari fan to say the least. This "PRO" version is less than pro. Sure you get 9 games for the $1.99 but no option to buy the rest for $8 additional dollars. Other reviewers insist that it is there but it's not in the description and I didn't find it as readily as the free version of this app.

As far as a choice for FAOTD Amazon failed us because the app was already free for the die hard fans that were going to spend money on the games. It is a good value for causal gamers who would not spend any additional money. But even if you had a favorite atari title and it was not one of the free 9... the free app plus .99 gets you the game you want plus two others that are similar to it. Again the free app is more "Professional" than the Pro version.

This is really a nostalgia ride for us old farts. Millenials with entitlement issues will find something to bitch about as the reviews indicate. Those who owned an Atari computer or a console as a kid will like this app. Most others who have no skills in adapting and/or expect everything for nothing delivered on a silver platter will hate it.

When you first start the app, you are greeted with a screen that allows you to select from a menu of arcade machines. As other reviews have noted, however, only 9 games are included free in the paid version, and the program doesn't indicate which games are already paid for and which aren't. Additional games are available in 3-game packs, many of which are $0.99, or to purchase the whole collection for $10. This must be intentional, to get you interested in a game so that you click on it and then want to play it so badly that you pay for it.

When you start up a game, games start up and are quite realistic in terms of their sounds and graphics. You control the game with an online trackpad at the bottom or by dragging your finger across the game screen. Neither method is implemented very effectively, and game play is very clumsy on a touch screen.

So, in short, the games appear to be the real deal, but are difficult to control, and the game is set up so that you really can't enjoy yourself unless you either are prepared to make ongoing purchases, or if you have an excellent memory for which games you have purchased and which you haven't.

Do not purchase this game at all if you are not comfortable with my description of the controls. If you think that you can deal with the controls, I still would not recommend purchasing it unless you are prepared to buy the whole collection for an additional $10 and just be done with it.

Honestly, Atari should just sell the app for $5 and include the whole collection instead of setting it up as a store. Even if they did, the controls still need a lot of work.
