The reason they don't get five stars? Each one had a sticker/hang tag on the end of the blade that is maddening to remove. The adhesive is so strong you can easily break a fingernail or two trying to peel off the sticker. I've never dealt with anything like it. You may get the sticker off the blade in one piece being fairly thick, but good luck with the adhesive still stuck to the blade. I used Goof Off to remove it but it took multiple coats to remove all the adhesive followed by hot water and dish soap to remove the solvent.
Yo could probably use a sharp scraper to save your fingernails at the risk of scratching up the mirror polish on the blades, I just think there has to be a better way. A lanyard hole in the handle and a loop with a tag would be a great improvement and give a place to hang them up as a bonus!
Every review on here that complains about the packaging is RIGHT. Listen to them. The sticker glue is not the common putty-type that peels right off. It adheres to the blade and refuses to come off. Don't buy this! It's too late for me...save yourselves.
EDIT - I forgot to mention the sticker that others complained about; Mine had the sticker too and it was stuck on the end of the blade pretty good as others mentioned, so I just used heat to loosen it up and it was pretty easy. I used the smallest gas burner on our stove top and with it set at the lowest setting, I held just the tip of the blade over the flame with the sticker facing down towards the flame for a few seconds and checked. It took a few tries at a few seconds each before the sticker started to loosen up and I peeled it away. A few seconds later, I removed the glue residue on the blade using 'goo gone' and then after washing it thoroughly I put it to use.
I would recommend against putting this tool in the dishwasher. The blade is stainless, but the finish on the handle on mine doesn't look as good after a load. In the long-term, putting this through the dishwasher often will eventually cause the handle and rivets to come loose from the blade as well.
I'm giving this product 5 stars because it performs as well as I can expect it to, but truth be told, next time I will order the one with the plastic handle.
Note for home cooks looking for a small spatula: What home cooks call a spatula is not the same as what professionals call a spatula. In a commercial kitchen, a spatula is a small implement used for spreading or scraping, like this tool or those soft silicone spatulas used in baking. What home cooks call a spatula is called a turner in a commercial kitchen. This should certainly not be used to lift anything heavier than a few ounces - if you're using it as a turner, then you will be disappointed.
I read reviews and struggled a bit to remove the sticker as it was thick hard plastic you would expect on something like wooden furniture or something, it has hard plastic and then has a thick layer of sticky adhesive.
So after some minutes and prying off the sticker, if you have eucalyptus oil at home, it is great for the sticker residue, I dabbed some onto a tissue and wiped the spatula and the rest came of easily.
I've had no issue swith bleeding from the handle and have and washed it many times- even from chocolate on the handle that I've scrubbed off.
