This is a great media wall unit, it's the third one I've purchased through Amazon. The instructions are very simple to follow and it doesn't take long to put together. When constructed, it appears to be very sturdy as well. You can stagger the shelves any way you desire for small knick knacks and decor, and it will hold a large collection of dvds. I have mine sitting in my upstairs hallway, and they do not impede foot traffic at all, as they don't stick out very far as say a bookcase would.

Make sure to do some comparison shopping to get the best price (or a different color selection). Some sellers are asking well over $200.00 for this item, when you can purchase it for less than $100.00 easy (and that includes s & h).

This is the PERFECT size for what I needed!! I don't like the look of DVD's so I didn't want to put them on display in my living room but I LOVE movies and I have a huge closet in my spare bedroom that has a large back wall. This was short enough that it wouldn't hit the top shelf in the closet and really long! I mainly wanted to use it for DVDs and Blurays... I don't really have that many CD's. But I posted a picture of how I have the shelves organized. Maximum DVDs that this will hold if you position the DVD's vertically are 300. If you look at the picture I have some box sets on the lower shelves that take up more space than the regular DVD cases. (15 shelves x 20 DVD's each = 300) Then there is the middle row which is perfect for Blurays (3 shelves x 20 Blurays = 60) and then I have CD's on the bottom shelf and each shelf holds 28 CD's (3 shelves x 28 = 84)

You can also stack DVD's horizontally on the blu-ray shelf and get an extra 39 DVD's which leaves room for 8 blurays on the same shelf.... so on one shelf you have 13 DVD's stacked horizontally and 8 blurays. I also have a little room on each shelf to stack 2 more dvd's horizontally above all of the rest (as you can see in the picture) but I really hate the look of that.

Right now, the way I have it arranged...
I can fit 300 DVD's vertically, 60 blurays and 84 CDs.

If I allow myself to stack DVD's horizontally I could get 360 DVD's(including the space above the dvd's on the other shelves), 24 blurays, and 84 cds. (You can also horizontally stack DVDs/Blurays on the CD shelves that I put at the bottom but that is not in my previous count.)

I have 6 shelves left over (2 shelves/section) that I didn't use.

In my home I have an indented area in my "computer room/man cave" that I am not sure what it's original purpose was, as this house is over 100 years old!.

My Father, years ago, converted the area into a closet and put sliding doors across it, and this was in what was their bedroom at the time. Well my parents passed away a while back, and they left the house to me.
I really did not care for the closet as it was only about 12" deep and too shallow to store much in, so I decided to remove the doors and convert the space into a multimedia storage area for all my movies & game cases.

I was originally going to build my own shelves and decided to search the internet to price building materials when I came across these shelves.
The measurements of two sets of these side by side was just about perfect fit for the space. These shelves were actually cheaper and took much less time to put together (About 1 hour each set) than buying materials to build and paint my own!

They look really great and hold my media very neatly (I have posted a picture on the right side of this page). I would watch amazon for a sale on these however, as when I purchased these about a month ago they were actually priced around twenty one dollars a set cheaper than they are showing as of this review. I give these shelves a 4 star rating as they are nice, but not super stylish and only average quality, like shelving you might buy from Walmart or Target, but not an actual furniture store. But they did get the job done for me!

Some tips if your thinking of getting these!

1. These shelves are meant as multimedia shelves - movie and game type cases - and not really for books other than maybe paperback novels.
2.

I was very disappointed when my package arrived as it is not the same one in the picture. I was very particular when searching for a new DVD tower because Atlantic had made changes to their design with new "short" shelves that, in my opinion, look sloppy compared to the nice flush shelves of models past. This entry clearly shows a model with flush shelves, but the one that arrived is the short shelf version. I dont believe the quality is less than that of previous models, necessarily, but where I would have normally rated this product 4 stars, it loses some for the way it was marketed. Plus the foolish decision to change the shelf depth. If it ain't broke...

The rack I built years ago was no longer big enough, but I needed its replacement to fit in a small space. This Atlantic unit was just the right size, while greatly increasing the number of DVDs and Blu-rays I could store. I wanted something that would allow them shelved vertically in alphabetical order (yes, I'm somewhat obsessive-compulsive). It arrived quickly and without damage, so I unpacked it and laid out the pieces. I found it easiest to set up a folding table in the garage to assemble the unit on. The instructions were clear, and it went together quickly and easily. I used a cordless drill/driver with the clutch set on low to drive the screws, and stopped short so I could finish tightening them by hand, to avoid stripping out the particle board. When attaching the back, I used needle-nosed pliers to hold the tiny nails to get them started, which avoided bruised fingers and crooked nails. It took an hour and a half to assemble the unit, bring it in the house, and put in all the movable shelves. It's very solid and strong, and doesn't wobble or rock, even though it is on carpet. Since we don't have earthquakes here in New Mexico, I didn't bother with the wall anchors. I calculate it will hold at least 360 DVDs and Blu-rays vertically, with room for a few more laid horizontally. It holds my boxed sets easily, and has room on top for knick-knacks. Yes, it's particle board with vinyl veneer, but it looks very nice, and does not appear cheap. For the price, it is an excellent cabinet.
