Fred BearReviewed in the United Kingdom on May 7, 20155.0 out of 5 stars A wealth of information in a little book
A wealth of information in this little book presented in coloured maps, graphs and pictures. It is divided into 7 parts:-
1. A finite resource - how much water is there, water shortages, rising demand, dwindling supply and conflicts.
2. Environmental pressures - climate change, urbanisation, altered flows, draining wetlands, floods, and drylands.
3.Water for living - drinking water, sanitation, amount used in homes, unsafe water, mosquitoes, use in food production and dispossession by water.
4. Water for economic production - irrigation, industry use, use for energy, fisheries, transport, leisure and water for sale.
5. Damaged water - pollution, pollutants, damaged waterways, threatened ecosystems.
6. Water for the future - millenium development goals, treaties, cooperation, managing water, water footprint, water at a price, technological fixes.
7. Data tables.

As a geography teacher who likes to keep abreast of the field and enjoys browsing in atlases and reference books, this has been a satisfying purchase.
