The open frame handle not only looks amazing, but it also fits really really well into your hands, is lighter and easier to clean. Made of grippy G10, you won't find this quality in this knife category anywhere else. The blade, made of 420B stainless steel, has the right mix between ease of sharpening and edge retention. It's not the lightest weight knife I've carried around, but it is certainly lighter than other knives of this size. The frame design of the handle, with large cut-out holes in certain areas, cuts down greatly on its weight, while allowing it to be very sturdy. The handle, with its fine grip texture throughout, fits my large hands and stays in place ~ really good traction.
I've been carrying a pocket knife for many years, and so far this is the best one yet.
Update: I have bought 3 of these. Great knife to carry or have in the EDC bag
After posting my first review, I discovered that the main screw which connects the blade to the handle was loose, and blade was wobbling a little when opened. Fortunately, I have a set of star screwdrivers and was able to adjust it. This made the jamming problem less pronounced, but because the blade itself is defective, it still gets stuck. I can't close it with one hand, and it takes a lot of effort struggling with this very sharp knife to close it. VERY dangerous.
Also, the thumbstud is loose and wobbly and getting worse every time I open the knife. Shortly after posting this review, the thumbstud actually fell off, so I'm updating today. The thumbstud is just pressed on - there isn't a screw holding it in, so basically friction is the only thing holding it onto the blade. I was able to reinstall it using a pair of pliers, but again, I don't carry pliers with me everywhere I go and if the studs fall off and I don't notice, they'll be lost forever. Super cheap.
And it keeps getting worse. I read several reviews where people are complaining about screws falling out. So I got out my trusty mini screwdriver set, and verified that 6 of the 9 screws on the knife were so loose that they spun freely and would have eventually fallen out on their own. Apparently, the manufacturer hasn't discovered Loctite yet.
Bottom line on this knife: It is a really excellent design, but world-class terrible quality in manufacturing. Just about everything on the build of this knife was done wrong. I know, you get what you pay for, and this isn't an expensive knife, but if you're going to sell something at least make sure it's functional.
Amazon won't let me exchange it for a replacement, because they actually raised the price in the week since I purchased it, so I'd have to return the knife and then buy another one for a higher price. Yeah, like I'm going to do that. So sad, because this is a very cool design and I love the way it fits in my hand - but I noticed some of these defects the day it arrived, and they just got worse; so bad, that the knife is now virtually unusable. I guess the search continues for a reliable folding knife.
Otherwise, the blade is sturdy in the frame, the lock seems pretty strong, the blade is very sharp, the belt clip is high on the frame (very good) and the overall feel is very satisfying. I would 100% recommend this product to someone looking to purchase their first edc knife, or someone looking for a new one in general.
