The key to this story lies in the characters making up the commando team. Each with their own specialty and personality, they come from different backgrounds to create an efficient killing force. As they face obstacle after obstacle on the way to their goal, the nazi body count rises with each altercation. And then, when victory is near, a twist is introduced that turns the story on its ear, and our heros are faced with impossible odds.
The author has obviously done his homework, and has created a realistic adventure filled with characters I grew to care about. If you're a fan of classics like The Guns of Navarone, or The Dirty Dozen, you'll enjoy this story of comraderie and heroism. And with one of the commandos being a woman, there's even a chance for a little romance.
I've read books by this author before and he never disappoints. Whether it's a treasure hunt in the 60s or a James Bond-type story set in the Wild West, you know Steve Richer always delivers when it comes to action and thrills. In this novel, he takes on world war 2 with a commando unit dropping in occupied Europe for a secret mission. I won't reveal the twists, because there are some major awesome twists, but let's just say I spent most of the night reading the book to see how it ended. It's really good.
