I wouldn't have counted them, but I split an order with someone. The weight cost was comparable to local purchase at TSC (Tractor Supply). The individual pieces were larger than the local supply at TSC so the item count was less. The product listing indicates 400 count/5 lbs. I received 285 count/5 lbs. They need to update their listing. The product is good (hot).

These are my hubbys favorite candy from his youth. He loves that he always has them in his candy dish now. The best part is that the grand kiddos always eat all his candies but these are too hot for them so they leave them alone. First of all these are more affordable than any of the other ones I viewed. Be aware that these are the smaller size than what I used to buy; approximately 3/4 " compared to the 1". Also, the do not come in the packaging shown but rather sealed in a plastic bag but they are the genuine Fireballs. Having said that, they still have the great hot cinnamon flavor I love. If you want to avoid the others that are double the price, these are the ones to purchase. I am very happy with my purchase.

5-lb bulk bag of Atomic Fireball candy from Ferrara Company.

Not many people buy a candy to be punished by it. That is, unless its an Atomic Fireball. No one buys this jaw breaker for its sweet taste. They want it for that nasty, caustic burn of cinnamon that will strip the inside of your cheeks raw and bring tears to your eyes. They want murder in their mouth, chaos beyond the gum line, a 5-bell alarm prairie fire that'll turn your mouth red while you're forced to stop reading that stupid book you'd thought you cuddle with while sucking on this monster.

From here on out, I buy Ferrara. According to Wikipedia, Ferrara bought the Atomic Fireball rights. Which makes me wonder who are all the other companies out there pedaling the Atomic Fireball name. Anyway, I can highly recommend the Ferrara brand based on my experience. The first one I popped into my mouth it went in sweet and I thought, "Oh, good grief, I'm stuck with a 5-pound bag of sugar." But then the fire kicked in. Give it a shot!

I’ve ordered these 3 times from the same seller. My first 2 orders were wonderful (although the second order had a mix of large and small sizes within the same package). My third order was horribly stale. After the outer layer (where all the hot is) had dissolved (in a VERY short time) the inner portion just crumbled. Unfortunately, I was outside the return limit when I realized the entire batch was bad. I’m undecided if I’ll order again seeing as I’ll be throwing away 5 lbs.

I did buy these again, for a fourth time. They were either stale or there was a manufacturing problem. The centers were, again, crumbly - like soft powder. This isn’t “normal” fir ant type fire ball. These are the only ones I’ve ever had that did this and it was only two bags our of four.

I've bought five lb bags of Atomic Fireballs from various vendors for several years now. You could say I'm addicted to them and always have to have a supply on hand. They were always "ordinary" i.e. you get past the candy coating shell, hit the "good stuff" layer where the heat is, then suck on the hard nougat candy which is nothing to write home about until it is gone.
Needing to fill in another item so as to get the free shipping I ordered this five lb bag from Amazon. Holy Moly! What a difference! You go thru steps one and two, hit the hard nougat for a few seconds, then BOOM! There is another layer of heat!
I have purchased this brand of balls before from other vendors and did not notice this, so don't know if it was a one time mistake for these purchased from Amazon, but I sure hope it continues!
