- Jaden to Gabrielle.
Truer words were never spoken, given that the Qui prince in question tried to violate Jaden sexually upon his arrival at the Qui court, then execute him for his perceived role in the kidnapping of empress Sonestra.
Now, the First Lord; owner of tributes, has got his sights set on Gabrielle, but this feisty redhead will not go quietly into the night - or take her place as a slave girl in his interstellar harem without a fight.
"Curse these humans and their addictive pheromones."
Born to rule, bred to fight, this is one conquest Oltu is not prepared for. Giving in to the sexual torments Oltu delights in dishing out is off the table and so a deal is struck "Never beyond your endurance... I will only take what you're willing to give"
Sexually speaking, Oltu's and Gabrielle's book is nowhere as harsh as Sonil's and Jaden's. There is only gentle, consensual domination in Atone by Treaty, and true to their natures it goes both ways. Their fights are mainly mental or verbal in nature. Oh, and did I mention the sexual frustration? ;-) Surely a new experience for the haughty First Lord of Katar. #Mwahaha! #HumilityIsGood4TheSoul.
What Atone by Treaty does is explore cultural differences, Oltu's role in the occupation of Earth, and the oddly sweet, hidden side Oltu reserves just for Gabrielle. My favorite part was Oltu's solemn vow to Gabrielle that accidentally took him into matrimonial territory. So freaking cute!
Remind me to sign up as a combatant should Earth ever be invaded by an alien species. I need a winged sexpot of my very own. It's NOT FAIR that only the military get their own Qui. This librarian wants to join in the fun. Do you hear me, Kayla? Which petition do I have to sign to make my dream come true? :-(
I was given an eArc of Atone by Treaty in exchange for an honest review
This is my first in the series, but it sure won't be my last. There are so many characters that I really can't wait to find out more about. I also can't wait to see what/who comes next!
I'm really enjoying this series! I love the depth of emotion evoked throughout the entire book. The characters and story are rich, bold, honest, mysterious, challenging, complex, heartfelt, flawed, and powerful. I'm definitely looking forward to more in this series. I voluntarily read this ARC for an honest review.
I thought the Qui Empire had gone dark. Then, I received this book and I was captivated again. Oltu is the epitome of caveman. Gruff and to the point. He cannot imagine falling in love with Gabrielle. He fights it as long as he can. After all, he is viscous warlord and she is a weak female. They butt heads constantly but their attraction never wavers. Can they each give a little or will stubbornness keep them apart?
These books are darker than I like but the story shines through and I love that.
