Violet Packer (the narrator), her younger brother Shawn, and his uncle Admiral Jim Packer (he likes the word “ye” a lot); Celeste (a black cat with green eyes and who TALKS!); Salty Magee (“Aye aye”) and Pepper Magee (“Nay nay”) and they are arguing a LOT! [Are they the same? I’m not sure.]; There’s Mad Madeline, Chuckles the Chimp, Captain Pip, Danny Lubbins (a ghost), etc.
And there are some “J’s” as well – Captain Jack, Jack-in-the-Box, Jack the Knife, Jack Attack, and it even mentions Johnny Depp! And, of course, the book is about PIRATES! (Boy am I am slow, or what.)
One of the Jack’s (which one, I’m not sure) says: “Because I’m allergic. Allergic to clams. I get such a rash, you wouldn’t believe.” That’s ME all right!!!
SLAPPY HERE, EVERYONE. Does S.H.E. mean something?
Last question: From S.H.E. says (on page 72): “I’d love to see giant tuna fish swimming in the sea. One thing I always wondered about tuna fish: How do they squeeze themselves into those tiny little cans? Haha.” Good point.
I’ve read more than 200 books from R.L. Stine, but this is one of the best!
I had it delivered straight to him as a treat. His mom said that as soon as it arrived, he grabbed it and ran upstairs with it. He apparently read it in one sitting. I haven't read it (though I should), but I gave it five stars because he enjoyed it so much.
I've preordered the next one and he is impatiently awaiting its delivery in September.
