Here's the deal: the movie itself looks and sounds amazing. The packaging and features: sub-par rehashing of the previous DVD release from over 10 years ago. The "poster" included, as well as the artwork presented on the disc case and slipcover are from a bad .jpeg file! You can see the pixellation all over it! What's also insulting is that the film itself is presented in 4K, everything else crammed on the disc is degraded to make it all fit on a standard BD25 disc - that's right, it doesn't even get the 50GB treatment!! So yeah, there's degradation throughout. Ugh.

The product is amazing, it comes with a slipcover (Some people say there is damage on the slip cover, but it is intentional) two disks (One blu ray one Dvd) and a minuter poster inside. It is amazing!! Sadly the movie is very confusing and not to funny. Still it gets five stars because I grade the product, not the movie.

I've heard a LOT about Attack of the killer tomatoes over the years. Until recently I haven't seen a single frame of the movie. But I decided to get it on a recommendation from a friend and... this movie has definitely earned its rep as a B-movie cheese fest. It gets unbelievably silly at times, it's bizarre, it's weird(there are two musical numbers in the film that come right out of nowhere), and in my opinion the editing is strange. What's scary is that it seems like something I would write if I wanted to make a really bad movie in the same vein as something like Plan 9 from outer space. But Attack of the killer tomatoes is most definitely and most deliberately a b-movie on every conceivable level. It's almost like a movie-length Monty Python sketch some times. If that sounds like a compliment... well, I guess it is. One thing I can tell you for sure, I did have fun watching this. Just make sure you don't watch it with any tomatoes around, they might get offended.

In San Diego, ordinary tomatoes have become menacing mutant vegetables with an appietite for humans as they spread through the nation. Agent Mason Dixson ( David Miller) has been hired by the government with the help of misfits including Wilbur Finletter ( Steve Peace) to stop the mad red veggie menace from taking over the world and find out who is behind this.

Entertaining and unexpectionally goofy musical Sci-fi horror parody indie production that was pretty much low budget and was based on the director's earlier short film version of his "Attack of the Killer tomatoes". Yes the acting, dialog and storyline are preety bad but this does have a couple of funny moments, a memorable theme song and a few musical numbers makes a pure guilty pleasure for me, this is a geniunely so-bad it's good movie that deserves it's cult following.

This collector's edition DVD offers good picture & sound quality and has quite good extras like audio commentary, the original two short films from the movie's creators especially the original "Attack of the Killer tomatoes" short with the director's commentary, trailer, two easter eggs, sing-along songs, radio spots, trivia, six featurettes, and deleted scenes. If you like cult flicks, horror, Sci-fi, spoofs and Family Guy then i recommend this movie!

Buyer Beware!

Buyer Beware! This is not the movie as it was originally released. This is a rehash of that horrible "DVD" released by Rhino in 2003. Whole scenes cut out. Dialogue cut out. The packaging is so much like the original VHS tape released by Media Home Video that I got conned into buying it. Do yourself a favor and get a good VHS copy made by Media Home Video and have it converted to DVD-R, and stay away from this piece of crap! It's a bluray for heaven sake. You could have put both versions of the movie on the same disc so consumer could have their option, but MVD dropped the ball!

I Don't See the Point

I'll be the first to admit that really bad movies can be really entertaining. That's why some of Ed Wood's movies are so much fun. ATTACK OF THE KILLER TOMATOES has long had such a reputation. I decided to give it a try. It was not worth the time or the effort.

Imagine that in a USDA experiment gone wrong, a group of mutant, killer tomatoes gets loose and attempts to wipe out humanity. All of the government's resources are put towards fighting the vicious berries. They are all doomed to failure and it looks like humanity's days are numbered. Finally, in a move that foreshadows MARS ATTACKS by 2 decades, humanity gets the upper hand and defeats the rampaging produce. Along the way, there are problems with politicians, bureaucrats, soldiers, spies and reporters. The idea is silly. I knew that going in.

There are gags in this movie that are funny. There are a few more that are very dated but can be funny if your memory goes back far enough. Mostly, though, it is just too much and goes on for too long at too great an expense of time and money. Others may like it but it paled for me after about 15 minutes. The musical numbers are a complete write off as well.

You have to really like extreme silliness to get much out of this one.

This is not usually my sort of film but it's quite an amusing concept.It's a fun romp with large explosive tomatoes taking revenge on the human race. It's seriously tongue in cheek and there's nothing to offend but if you are in the mood for someting really odd this is the one to watch.
