The straps are pretty much a waste of time for me as I wanted the yak as high as possible, using the straps has it hang around 2 feet lower than I wanted. No worries though, the hooks on the hoist can turn 360 and will pretty much hook on to any handle or hook-able surface.
I would recommend to others.....similar hoists in the store were about $12 more.
Very thoughtful in the design to ease installation. Remember installing something on the ceiling is extremely challenge, risk and tiring.
Fittings precision in the assembly is world class, not too loose or tight. Holes are line up where and when I expected it to be.
Room for improvement :
I agree with the other reviewer about the rope property, very easy worn down. Even if my finger is a bit rough after the installation, my finger will pull off strands on the rope face.
I plan to spend about $10 on 5/16" braided rope from H-Depot to replace mine.
Watch out when comparing pricing :
Some designs use single rope system to daisy chain up two of hook-pulleys. This provides mechanical advantage of 4:1 no question in that but the downside is that your bike will be accend with the lighter (front or back) end first and settled closer to the ceiling than the opposite end. It is no big issue but you have to correct that each time during and after hoisting. Too late to correct when it is against the ceiling. So how to make our selection? Consider double rope system, one rope on each hook-pulley. Hoist your bike as if we are hoisting our window blind, engage and pull both ropes at once in equal amount your bike will be suspended nicely horizontal, during and end of hoist.
