I am not going to pretend that I fully understand everything I just read. I think I understand the ending but still the whole concept behind every unnatural thing I am still confused. I adore the magical realism that was woven throughout this novel, but sometimes it got a little bit confusing. I still loved this book though. I appreciated the tone it was written in and the fact that Beth Morgan didn’t feel the need to make any of the characters actually likable. I think it’s really hard to write a really good novel when the whole cast of characters is hatable but she definitely pulled it off

I really enjoyed reading this book. The plot is well-paced, and it’s a very fun read. It gets really weird near the end, and the twist kind of comes out of no where, but it’s also set up earlier in the book. The characters are well written. Every character is simultaneously the worst person you have ever read and someone you find yourself rooting for. It’s not the best book I’ve read, but I had a good time reading it.

Okay, this book is so wild! The story follows couple Remy and Alicia who become obsessed with a girl named Jen. They follow her every move and when they are invited on a surfing trip by Jen, they attend. What follows is a deepening obsession and the changing of their realities. This book is so hard to describe as it is a blend of so many genres! It really took me by surprise and at points I had no idea where the story was going to go next. You definitely need to keep an open mind if you decide to read this! Overall, the plot worked for me because it was so out there, weird, and it didn’t try to be super “realistic” but it did have a lot to say about some real topics. I am definitely looking forward to reading other people’s reviews about this, and seeing what they made of it.

Honestly it’s hard to describe this book. Part horror of the modern age (and the obsession we can find ourselves in with others in the Social Media world) part sci-fi / mind-bending, A Touch of Jen is a journey of a story- the characters are all unlikeable in their own regards, and yet the story is a page-turner that leaves you guessing even after the end. I just wish there was more? Is this simply Remy’s descent into madness? Or does the multiverse strike again?

Honestly, I liked the storyline right up until the last quarter of the book and things just get really weird when it gets science fiction style. Also, many of the characters reminded me why I dislike my millennial generation. Parts of the book were funny and kinda hot, though. I sort of understood why the story took the direction it did during the last quarter but I thought it was mostly weird and a bit unnecessary. And even though I didn’t like some of these characters, I was still a bit disappointed with what happens to them in the end. Maybe I need someone to explain the events of the last quarter of the book to me a bit more? Anyways, I’m not telling anyone to NOT buy the book, but this is just what I felt about it.

I loved this book!! It truly portrays how toxic social media is. Every character is so unauthentic it goes beyond the veil of social media. The characters perform as though there being perceived on social media in real life. The plot is a bit dry however the suspense is well executed and draws you in. I will say the ending was quite confusing.
