I received the item and was so excited, i wanted a system that could use DLNA with my android device and i could also play my turntable with. I couldnt get either to work, the DLNA process is awful. It definitely needs some work. I then tried to connect the turntable, i didnt see anywhere that i needed a phono amp, anyway there was another $150 for that. I ended up buying an ipad mini so i could use airplay, which is still not 100% guaranteed to work.
During setting up, the system could not pick up the wifi in my house, meanwhile all my other products can in the same area at full signal. In the end i had to take the Air One downstairs, right next to the wifi router to register the signal. Another issue is the eco and sleep mode, nothing is explained in the manual about this to a great extent, i had to figure it out myself. If you leave it in eco mode it will have to find the wifi signal again which will take a little bit of time, which feels like forever. I now leave it in sleep mode, i then just put a record on and the system recognizes something is being played and it works.
I would have gave it 3 stars if it didnt sound so good, i was amazed when i finally got everything to work, Marvin Gaye - Whats Going On on vinyl sounded amazing. I added a Pro-Ject Carbon, a NAD phono amp and a Yamaha sub, sounds great!
Pros - All the above, plus looks great - clean simple design that work in any style room.
Cons - Wifi set-up defaults to an eco setting in which you need to turn speaker on every time you restart your computer, but you can set the speaker up in stand-by mode (uses more power). This isn't really a con if you care about the environment and don't mind starting it up each time.
I looked for quite a while at all the available AirPlay speakers and took a chance on the Audio Pro Air One. I liked the look of this the best out of all of them and the one or two reviews I was able to find online seemed to be fairly complimentary to the speaker. I purchased mine through Amazon in July 2014 and have been so happy with it that I am finally writing a review almost 2 years later.
First off, the leather wrapped speaker is stunning to look at. It's simple and understated–which is my style of choice. Much better than the other flashy/gaudy high end competitors. Second, it sounds amazing for its size. Like I mentioned above, this speaker fills my whole living room/dining room/kitchen with full, clear music. Eventually I may add a sub, but after almost two years I haven't yet felt the need. The bottom end that comes out of this speaker is simply amazing given its size. The mid-range and highs are also well represented.
Finally, the options having an AirPlay speaker gives me are truly fantastic. I typically play music from my phone through the speaker and I can easily skip a song when I want to listen to a different track. If my phone is charging and not within reach I can use the music widget on my Garmin watch. If we're entertaining in the back yard I can simply plug the speaker in outside and I'm good to go.
I did not have any difficulty with the initial setup and the occasional drop out has been more an annoyance than anything else. I would most definitely recommend this speaker.
