The microphone carries every sound your movement makes, so conversations are out of the question. Everyone I spoke to heard so much noise I was constantly being told to remove the headphones.
The volume control is a tiny little wheel that doesn't work. If goes from full volume to about 70, to 50, to 20, no in between. The music control button is a sad, protruding single, double and triple click button. It also is not integrated to the cord, it's an addition. It sticks out, meaning that if you move you are constantly hitting it, getting it stuck in your tie, button shirt, or whatever your leaning close to, like your work desk...
I was forced to download power amp, a music app with a great built in equalizer because the headphones carry such high lows. The first day I used them, I was excited so I listened to music very loudly for about 3 hours during my work day. My ears were ringing for over 2 days. The equalizer helps, but it isn't practical, because there is no happy median. You have one song sound great, but a different sound sounds bad. You fix that, now the thee song doesn't sound good....
The best example m I can come up with is comparing it to a dslr camera or a point and shoot. You don't want a dslr headset. You want it to just sound great from the get go. Not have to be a sound engineer or have to learn so much technical information in order to have a pair of headphones sound good. I will be returning these as my volume control stopped working. It now just does nothing, then down to a whisper.
Overall build quality on the ear pieces feels great, very strong. But for close to $150 ( discounted) you'd expect integrated controls, tangle free cord, and a better quality feel.
I believe these are a fashion piece more so than functional headphones.
Would not recommend to anyone who enjoys uninterrupted listening because you'll dislodge the ear piece once your volume control gets stuck on...anything.
The sound of these things is outright addicting, they have punchy bass that does not overwhelm the mids or highs, although I will admit it does bleed into the lower end mids though. The ear tips these come with aren't awful but replacing them with Auvio tips from Radioshack definitely helped the sound quality, since the stock ones do not have a wide enough opening.
If you couldn't tell from the picture these are relatively, but not excessively, large headphones. And no, they are not the end all of comfort for in-ear headphones, although they are not uncomfortable. As for isolation, they are incredible if you can get a good seal (which is not hard); I can't even hear the person next to me talking, or the TV 10 feet away from me.
I mainly listen to rock and alternative, guitar sounds great with these. For just around 150 dollars from amazon these are a no-brainer.
