The ATH-WS55 are my second headphones, the first ones actually being a 7.1 USB headset for gaming (Razer Megalodon). Therefore, I am totally amazed by the sound quality. I simply never heared such a good sound quality at home, for only one third of the price of the deified Beats by Dr. Dre! When hearing music on the laptop, I also couldn't ask for more, since that the Windows Media Players equalizer will allow me to easily increase the bass level, if I sometime have the impression that the relatively small ATH-WS55 is not keeping up with bassier electronic music. The ATH-WS55 actually is simply perfect for normal buyers like me, who don't have an accurate enough hearing to fully enjoy an extremely expensive top end Sennheiser anyway, for example.
This ATH is beautiful enough, feels very well made an is always easy to use. It will fit on any head (I at least guess so :D ), since that it is very adjustable. I realy can't complain about anything!
I payed $35 for my headphones to be shipped from Japan to Brazil in 3 to 5 days, what actually did not work that well. It took 22 days for them to arrive, but then that is the fault of the brazillian government and not of the seller. When retrieving the package, they wanted me to pay 60% tax on the headphones AND on the $35 I payed for shipping. I asked them to reduce that amount, since that the 22 days service the mail ended up offering me was not worth $5, but I had no success. Therefore, this headphones ended up costing me $128.98 + 60% taxes, with a delivery time of 22 days, but it was worth it anyway!
For those who are curious: to solve the punchy bass problem, I installed Equalizer APO and Peace.exe GUI to tweak the bass settings. Much better! :D
And on those specific occasions, this gives me exactly what I want.
The SOUND QUALITY is exceptionally amazing.
Let me mention the crispness of the bass, which is also exceptional.
in a nutshell, this is almost similar to the mighty ATH M50, with an addition of some bass boost.
On COMFORT wise, it definitely gives pain after long use. For me, I am not a long listener, so I am satisfied with it.
Impressive BUILD QUALITY.
Its a bang for the buck. Good, for short time listeners, and quality seekers (at low cost).
When I first got the headphones, opened them up, out of the box, I was underwhelmed. Extremely underwhelmed. I chose these headphones not only because of sound quality but style. They met one requirement. Though obviously better than a pair of basic white apple earbuds, they weren't much.
However, I'd bought them so I was going to use them. After a while I noticed the sound quality began to get better. I realized I'd never tried burning them in (let sit for 50+ hours) sort of like breaking in a new pair of shoes. I decided to just let them burn In by listening them more often. I didn't realize the astounding change until I tried listening to some other $100+ headphones. Many different brands, many different pairs. When I put my audio technicas back on they were wwaaaaaayyyyy better. And it seems like the burning process had sort of hit a platu, (or however u spell it)
Finally, the headphones made a jump, and very quickly the sound got much much better. They're advertised as "solid bass" and I'm not sure how accurate that is, but they're definitely better in the category than beats by dre. Good mids, a little lacking on the highs, but not too noticeable. They're definitely over ear headphones.
