Purchase options and add-ons
This guide covers 80 of the most common native wildflowers of the East—species that anyone is likely to encounter. Our geographical range is bounded by the Atlantic Ocean on the east, and on the west by the 100th meridian, extending from Edwards Plateau in Texas northward through Oklahoma and westward through eastern Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana, and Canada, along the eastern foothills of the Rocky Mountains. A companion volume covers flowers west of the Rockies.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 13, 2013My 6 year old is obsessed with these pocket guides. They are very educational. I have also purchase a flower/leaf press along with these guides and it has become a knd of treasure hunt for my daughter and I.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 4, 2014I was looking for a flower book so I could look at flowers in my area. In small writing the books says EAST. I live in the WEST. This is a book for Eastern Flowers. Make sure your looking for a Eastern Flower book when you order it. :) I'm going to keep it for when I travel in the East of the country.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 29, 2006This book is so easy to carry in a pocket or backpack. The pictures are vivid and the information is easy to read. I use it all the time and find it to be very useful.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 1, 2012Being botanically challenged, I was looking for a general guide to the flowers all around me. This book titled "Familiar Flowers of North America" seemed perfect. However, after receiving it, I realized that it only covered the eastern part of the country and only wild flowers. The eastern limitation was noted only in the picture of the cover of the item, nowhere in print in the product description. The "wildflower only" aspect is mentioned nowhere at all. You learn that only when you get the book.
It appears adequate for what it covers, but it is not what is advertised. It does not meet my needs.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 15, 2015Nice books! One thing that's a bit difficult, though, is trying to find a bird we see within all those long lists of birds. Our friends have similar problems. We locate our state, but there must be a way of narrowing options of birds. But well-done! DG
