I will certainly be buying again.
To embroider I used Tear away stabilizer on the bottom and a water soluble stabilizer on top. My Brother SE 440 had no issues with this fabric, dare I say it was one of the easiest projects/material my machine has worked on. Thread looked beautiful on it. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.
Attached is one of the projects I've completed with these towels.
THIS IS IT!
This is the super amazing towel of old. There was NO pilling. They wash up like the 100% cotton that they are - you WILL need to iron after washing if you want to stitch on them. But they are true to shape (all right angles, no wonky weirdness after washing) They are extra durably thick. They are perfect for all the kitchen uses I wanted them for, like drying dishes and then the towel air drying quickly, to put under things you wish to drain, etc. They are a bit heavy for straining off the whey in cheese making.
I am thrilled with the purchase! I bought three packs of seven. They are highly prized, and I intend to give most of them as gifts. Out of 21 towels, there were 2 with flaws - one had a one inch miss in the hem, and one had the hanger loop not fully attached. Neither of these flaws were of any consequence to me; just sharing the info.
update: after using them in my kitchen for a while, i have determined that these are better quality/thicker/more tightly woven than any i have ever used before. my hubby says this will diminish over time, and it may. meanwhile, if i decide i need more for myself, i'll probably get the Aunt Martha's regular rather than the premium. i expect they will be well received as gifts!
When I purchased them, Aunt Martha's came in a 7-pack and Nouvelle Legende in a 12-pack for the same total price.
I can see where someone who wanted to embroidery on towels wouldn't be happy with these as they are a mildly crinkly cotton. but if you just want them for sundry kitchen duty, they are great. I was very happy to find the little ribbon sewn into a corner so you could hang the towel from a hook.
They are thick for woven cotton and super absorbent. i do see a few threads coming loose, not sewing threads, but woven threads, just on one towel so I won't mark them down a star. I'm very, very happy with them.
Though the description below the photos states, "1 White Dish Towel", the package does indeed come with 7 towels, which are made in India.
Each is a nice, large size hemmed around the border, with a loop for hanging, and of nice quality.
I have not found any problems with their abosrbency, having used them many times for countertop spills. They were washed prior to their first use (no fabric softener-which may affect absorbency), and the only possible "down-side" to these towels (though not an issue for me) is that--being 100% cotton--they do come out of the dryer wrinkled.
I do a great deal of baking, and these were purchased primarily to place atop "resting" bread and pizza doughs-a task they perform admirably! They also do a wonderful job when used for waxing and polishing-leaving no lint or residue behind-and buff silver and shiny metals to a beautiful sheen.
Wonderful towels, and I look forward to purchasing more of them!
