Although the Blue Yeti is a wonderful microphone, if left on its desktop stand it will pick up every noise from your desk. All your keyboard thumps and mouse movements are transmitted directly to the microphone, and can ruin your recording.
A shock mount is absolutely vital to isolate the microphone from the noise, vibration and shock. It suspends the microphone on elastic bands, which dissipate any vibration. Leaving you with a pure recording of your podcast, voiceover or singing. No need for any post-recording work. The problem is solved acoustically rather than electronically.
Your Auphonix Shock Mount for Blue Yeti microphones will give you a professional sound, without taking up all the space that the Radius takes up. It's made of plastic and therefore is light and easily transportable.
This shock mount comes with an adapter thread to fit all standard microphone arms.
So, fix all your Blue Yeti microphone recording problems now with this lightweight and affordable shock mount.

MAKE SURE to measure the screw mount on your blue yeti before ordering. Apparently some blue yeti mics have minute differences with their screw mounts. I measured mine to make sure it was the correct dimensions.
holds up mic without sagging over time
Isolates mic from annoying desk vibrations
VERY cheap compared to more "quality" products
Aluminum version feels light yet sturdy
Some random rough parts from casting
This product is as advertised. I bought the aluminum version to be safe. In the long run, the extra $10 or so is probably well worth it, as you're substituting something easy to break for something hard to break.
If you're a professional, I'd probably go bigger and get a more professional grade shock mount, but if you're like me and just doing casual stuff for fun, it's more than enough.
Full disclosure: I am not highly experienced in audio equipment.
I purchased this mount May 4th and received it May 9th (due to the weekend). So no issues on purchasing/shipping. Amazon, as always, is pretty good about that.
This is the first shock mount that I have purchased. I had always wanted one for the Blue Yeti but their radius mount is so expensive I've always just dealt with not having one. As you would imagine I would get the loud thumps as I was typing or if I hit the desk or something along those lines.
I'm happy to report that the shock mount I received works perfectly with my Blue Yeti. There has been an issue where the Blue Yeti mounting hole is 1/16th" larger than the standard 5/8th" mounting hole. This has obviously caused much frustration with people who have purchased this shock mount.
I'll try to break down the pros and cons.
* Removes noise caused by typing/hitting the desk/placing something on the desk/etc.
* Good price point.
* Install and Set Up is easy. It's just one screw that you screw into the mic.
* Doesn't feel gigantic. So the footprint is manageable.
* Pretty much set it and forget it. Takes a sec for adjusting but once you set it everything stays in place.
* Made out of plastic. Feels a bit flimsy. Feels like if I adjust too much, tighten too much, or try too hard on something it will break.
* This is more of my own issue but the way I have to have my set up my USB cord to the mic doesn't necessarily fit. I have it set up to where it works, but it is annoying.
All in all I'm liking this shock mount. It's doing it's job for me. I don't need anything super fancy, just something that gets the job and this does it. I have it set up in conjunction with a boom arm, isolation shield, and pop filter and everything is going well.
I only took off one star because of the plastic construction.
Auphonix was AWESOME about it all, too. Emailed me prior to it being received, let me know the issue, told me they'd allow a return if needed but gave some awesome and very helpful tips on how to make it work if there was a fit issue. Best customer service I've seen in a long, long time.
The company emailed me, telling me about the possible difference in sizing, and assured me I could get a refund if I so chose it.. but they recommended a good fix if I wished to keep it. They were very thoughtful and nice in their email!
I recommend buying a roll of plumbers tape to wrap around the screw part that the mic connects too. The thickness will then increase and the mic will hold in place.
This item seems like cheap plastic, but it has managed to last for me. It can barely support the weight of the microphone, but still does when tightened. It performs well as a shock mount and is great for the price.
