Only time will tell longevity but comes w a 5 yr. cutting head warranty.
One-month of use comments,
1) The quietest unit I've ever owned in this class. Amazingly quiet.
2) The chopped paper pieces are much smaller than most competitors which means higher security and less bin dumping.
3) The directions are logical, reading "do not shred any plastics", not even clear window paper envelopes. Plastic likely is a major cause if failure by deeply clogging up the cutting heads leading to early failure. 4) They recommend light vegetable oil for lubricant. I've read others that say never lubricate. I'm thinking oils may cause more harm than good and gum up paper, prevent clean cutting and actually cause cutting head clogging. So this time I'm trying no-lubricating ever.
5) Clear bin shows how full and auto stop when is full. Running shredders when the bin is full is another cause of cutting head clogging/failure.
I've had 3 other similar units over the last 20 years. I would not ever shred Credit Cards or CDs. Use scissor for those rare events. Paper shredders are for "paper". Only time will tell how long this unit lasts. You need you use common sense. Don't push its limits.
One last design-thought.
6) This unit has an unusual top feed running front to back (not the typical top-front feed, running left to right). The benifit is a narrower, but deeper unit profile. A potential Con is you can't expect to use this unit if you want to recess it, say in a bookshelf or wire rack. You won't be able to access the paper shredder slot. It must be on the floor with nothing stacked over it.
