5.0 out of 5 stars They've done it again!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on May 16, 2019
Oh my. This book... THIS BOOK. I can't fully express how much I enjoyed it. It's been one of my most anticipated reads since it was announced and I have been (not so) patiently waiting for it to be released. My initial plan was to devour it on its release around my driving lesson then work in the evening.

Until they both got changed so I had almost no time at all. So rather than giving myself an hour or two in the morning and fitting it in when I could before I exhausted myself. So instead I promised myself I would wait until today and then I could read it in one go and not feel the need to force myself to stop reading because of other responsibilities.

I can't say this book met my expectations because I went into it almost blind. I mean I knew it was about a squad and there was going to be a build-up to war, but other than that I had no clue of the plot. I knew the characters from the trailer that was released but that was as much detail as I had.

But I can say I loved it, just as I love all of Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman's books, I pretty much pre-order anything they write without knowing what it's about.

I love books set in space anyway so I knew it would already be at least 3 stars from that alone but there aren't enough stars on the site to rate this one. I loved the characters and how the relationship they have has developed over the course of the book, I loved how we got to see the perspectives of all of them rather than just one or the other. I usually struggle with multiple perspectives because I nearly always prefer some more than others, but I enjoyed them all equally. I admit I had slightly more interest in Auri, but that's pure because I loved the "Girl out of time" aspect and how she developed to this new world.

I do feel slightly confused with how Auri develops her powers and the whole "trigger" aspect but I think its something I missed. So I know already a re-read is needed!

I didn't make as many highlights as I was so invested and didn't want to stop, but I know that when my Illumicrate subscription comes at the end of the month I can re-read and tab it up to my heart's content
