2 Years after installation - Bad Cables

I bought this cable 2 years ago and it's installed along the outside of my house. The purpose of this cable to allow both my parents (who live upstairs) and I (living downstairs) to see the surveillance monitor. This cable causes my monitor to intermittently and sporadically flicker on and off at random times of the day. It is EXTREMELY ANNOYING to deal with. I'll probably have to install better cables next summer. I live in Seattle so this cable has to deal with very rainy seasons, and lately, very snowy winters, so I feel like I've tested this cable quite thoroughly. So be warned, if you're looking for a long term weather resistant cable that will last the seasons, then this cable IS NOT FOR YOU.

This was the exact length I needed. Dirt cheap compared to other 50ft HDMI cables, and cheaper than buying a Chromecast, Roku box, etc.
Ran all the way around my living room corner to corner.

Connectors feel solid and quality. Cable is THICK! A little difficult to maneuver, but I know it won't be damaged easily. Even came with a couple cable wraps, which are appreciated.

Signal is clean, HDCP handshake was fine. All good!

I use this 50 ft HDMI cable to run from my laptop to my HDMI powered switch box that runs to my projector and AVR. If I run it directly to the AVR the signal is reduced by the AVR and by the time the signal gets the the projector the signal is intermittent. This is a long run for a HDMI signal. By using a powered switch I am able to get great results, but without it this cable will not work with my equipment. If you plan on running directly from source to a display you should get good results. From my research it looks like most AVRs reduces the signal because of the DAC and the resulting transmission to the projector on another 25 ft HDMI is to weak. Just keep this in mind when you want to run long HDMI runs.

I was a little concerned with using a 50 foot HDMI cable due to some of the research I did before going this route. Some say no issues and I saw where some suggest a loss of performance at that length without some sort of amplification. I have no issues as far as I can tell. Great picture. Plus, I have more than just the 50' "A to B" run. I needed a 3' cable from DTV box going into a HDMI A/B type switch box, then the 50' Aurum cable reviewed here going to a simple HDMI coupler, then a 10' cable going to the back of a another coupler in a recessed wall box, and finally a 3' cable going to TV. With all these connections I was concerned so I hooked it all up before going thru all the trouble of running the wires thru the various areas. Again, no problems using all the high speed cables and connectors.

The only reliable 50ft HDMI cable I've bought so far

Actually works fabulously, previously I purchased and tried several 50ft HDMI cables, they were even 10 bucks more expensive than this one- yet they didn't work- they made artifacts, had unreliable signal transmission, green/magenta flickers.

However, this one actually works! and it was cheaper. Ironic huh? My use for the 50ft HDMI is that I needed to run it from a projector all the way around the room back to my pc. So far, it's working perfectly and I highly recommend you get this over any other 50ft HDMI cable (ESPECIALLY if they're more expensive. Because it's clear quality is not necessarily correlated to cost. *In this singular case!*)

I got this cable to connect my Sony receiver to my Optoma Projector mounted on the other end of the wall. I was able to tuck the cable under the carpet around the edge of the room. It is flexible enough to handle the corners.

I docked one star because I couldn't get my Sony BD player to show its home menu screen after I switched to this cable. It was working with the other shorter cable from the same company, so I don't know if it is a problem with the 1080p 60hz signal from my BD player. It is able to handle the 1080p 60hz from my receiver just fine.

I had a work around for that by using component to HDMI out up-conversion on my receiver. I decided I am not going to go through the hassle of returning and routing another set of cables.

Otherwise, everything else has been working perfectly with this cable.

Works perfectly for 40' desktop extension

I'm using this cable to extend my PC desktop about 40 feet to the living room TV. Works perfectly. The cable is very stiff, but I don't think this is bad at all. In fact, I think it demonstrates the thickness of the cable insulation they used. For my application, I use this cable temporarily and then put it away. If I were running a cable through the ceiling or inside of walls for permanent installation, I would probably think about going with a brand that is more established. And yes, I am assuming Aurum is not a well-established brand b/c I had never heard of them before. Just my 2 cents.

Not Ideal Picture Quality

I have noticed some picture quality issues with this cable due to the long run of the cable. I have tried my best to avoid any power lines and when necessary, cross the power lines perpendicularly to reduce the amount of interference. I have had better results when I plugged this into a powered HDMI booster but I think the 50 ft length by itself is pushing the outer limits of what the signal can handle.
