From the Back Cover
"In this book, Dutch Sheets brings to the surface something that most of us will readily admit, namely that a good bit of the time we pray, we pray like wimps! Long before I came to the end of the book, I decided that Im not going to pray like a wimp anymore--Im going to pray like a winner! Im thankful for this huge upgrade to my prayer life, and I know that you will be just as thrilled when you read Authority in Prayer."--C. Peter Wagner, Chancellor, Wagner Leadership Institute
"We live in perilous times! The vigilant parent, pastor or politician is aware that God's purposes in their lives will be challenged over and over again. Praying with authority is a necessary part of your dominion toolkit. More than a manual for effective prayer, Dutch Sheets distills a lifetime of experience and scholarship into the essentials of high impact prayer. I began using the breakthrough concepts unveiled in this book the same day I read it. My results have been amazing--yours will be, too."--Harry R. Jackson, Jr., Senior Pastor Hope Christian Church, Chairman High Impact Leadership Coalition

Dutch opened my eyes to the incredible authority we have in prayer. Everything he teaches is backed up with Scripture and illustrated through his own personal experience. I liked the book so much that I went to his website to order the mp3 teaching which was just four dollars. The link for the mp3 is: [...]. The mp3 teaching is not nearly as thorough as the book and it touches more on interceding for our government.
The book helped me to realize the authority that Jesus wants me to bring into every situation. My purpose is to use every opportunity to bring Jesus’ authority into every situation.. We are His representatives (ambassadors) and prayer is one of the main tools God has given us to bring about His will in a fallen world.
I love the fact that Dutch Sheets is so REAL when he writes about prayer. He doesn’t pretend to be the expert and to have all the answers. What he does have is unique ability to inspire God’s people to take prayer seriously. He has a way of helping people to see how prayer can be a vital part of a person’s spiritual life.
I am a lot more confident in my prayer life as a result of reading this book. While I am familiar about praying God’s will using the Scriptures, there was something about the way that Dutch presented it that really “clicked” in my spirit.
I loved reading about some real life examples to how God used prayer in Dutch’s ministry and was overjoyed to hear how God answers prayers. The chapters were short and could be easily read as a devotional book every day.
I received a free copy of this book by Bethany House (even through I already owned a digital copy when the book was offered for free at Amazon) in exchange for a honest non-biased review.
I'm in Teen Challenge and we're in chapel during worship and prayer etc. There was a lady there and she was tall and drama filled. Anyways, she would swing around like someone who's torso was on a ball bearing during worship with her arms in the air. She looked like a twisting letter "Y" with her eyes closed. Nobody knows what's in someone's heart but I feel like it was very showy and fake. So in the dream we're in chapel and she and others are doing that and repeatedly saying "Father God, Father God, Father God" and I'm looking at them and in the dream I knew it was just superficial words. then I look at the window but the window to the outside isn't a normal window it's actually like the top two feet of the wall just under the ceiling is open to the outside. And there's lighting flashing like crazy outside. And I look at them doing the twisty-Y and then I look at the building pillar next to me and I suddenly, almost violently, put both my hands on the pillar. And the lighting came through from outside and started to strike the pillar. And that's the dream. I've since done some light research and lightning represents the power of God. The cover of this book is EXACTLY what the window and wall looked like in my dream. So, I KNEW I was to read this book.
Sheets talks about our authority as Christians and what it means and how we are to walk in it. The body of Christ has been pathetically useless recently and I feel that God is waking us up to SEE our position for what it is. Jesus said we would do even greater works than he. I haven't seen it. I highly recommend reading this book and adopting a heart of devotion to prayer, and learning about the different types of prayer, and how desperately we need to become people who pray WITHOUT CEASING. I have recommended this to multiple people and will continue to do so. It left me deeply hungry for more, in a good way. I was very thankful to the Holy Spirit for his leading and for revelation. And to Dutch Sheets for writing it!!!
In his book, "Authority in Prayer", Sheets reveals God's plan for prayer, His purpose for prayer in our lives and how we can partner with God in prayer to further His kingdom. So many times, Christians make prayer all about them when, in reality, prayer is all about our partnership with God to further His kingdom.
Through the examples of others, Sheets reveals to us that we, too, can have authority in prayer to proclaim things we never thought possible. If you are unsure of your prayer life or desire a more effective prayer life, "Authority in Prayer" should be the next book on your reading list.
