I also have Mastering Autodesk Revit 2011. Its is quite hard to follow. SO I bought this book and really like it. The pages will teach the very basics.

Some reviews mentioned the pages are dark, but in my opinion, it is that knowledge that gets into your head not the quality of printing paper. The paper quality used in this book are not that really bad.

The author is obviously a novice when it comes to understanding buyers. Found many mistakes in the book and no support when it came to his "Supposed" email support. There are better Revit books that support the BIM concept. The screen shots in the book were also very hard to interpret.

Avoid this book if possible.

Being new to 3-D Architecture, this book is great. It takes you through the entire process of modeling from start to end. The step-by-step process makes it easy to follow. The book is not filled with a lot of techno mumbo- jumbo like alot of books do. It puts it in plain English, so you don't get frustrated. As a teacher, I have reviewed a lot of books before I found this one. I will recommend this book to all my colleagues and students.

Look no further. This is the book to get if you want to learn Revit from the get-go. Unlike other books that cost twice as much and are purely theoritical this book takes you into the driver's seat where you will get your hands on the steering wheel. You will get "down and dirty" going from chapter to chapter in a logical progression as you "build" (in Revit you build, not draw)a five story office building. My suggestion to anyone wishing to really learn the program is to "build" your own project right next to the office building. This way you can try out the various skills as you acquire them on something that is truely your own and therefore boost your self-confidence. You can't go wrong with this book.

This is a self-paced tutorial using well established learning techniques and covers a broad range of commonly used skills. But, as others have said, it's not an all-inclusive reference. It is best used in combination with something like "Mastering Autodesk Revit...". Highly recommended.
