If you are looking for a change from your regular nonfiction mysteries but, wouldn't be caught dead with one of those "cheesy" romance novels your sister drags to the pool. Give this one a chance. If you are interested in science fiction, space travel and occasionally watch a program or two on space theories and travel, this book will peak your interest. First of all, the writer doesn't describe mankind, far into the future, as nothing but a big head with no body. Second, unlike the movie "2001 a Space Oddesy", we are in control of the computers and robots. Third, unlike the TV show "Lost in Space" the Robots in this story do not look like huge, awkward canister vacuum cleaners.
Written by a writer from England, it's refreshing to read those little differences in our speech differences and terminology. Yes, there is romance in this story, yes, a lesson is learned and without giving too much away, it's nice to see that at least in one writer's mind, our need for human feelings will be just as great, far into the future and won't be replaced by a pill or some how zapped out of our brains.
