As a former car stereo/alarm installer, these have been the best strippers I've used. One reason is because under the dash, there are many times you have so little room to work with. These strippers will grab the tip of the wire and strip it off with ease. That means if you have almost no clearance, you can still strip the wire. And you can also strip multiple wires of the same size at the same time by just lining them up inside the jaws and squeeze away.

This stripper is not good for very thick wires (I'm talking 10 gauge or thicker) or very thin wires as it can easily take some extra strands off the thin wire. However, any good installer will have more than one wire stripper to do a specific job. This stripper is definitely one that should be included in your toolbox.

Don't even think of trying to strip solid wire (i.e. home wiring) with this stripper. It's only good for stranded wire.

I recently upgraded my home entertainment system. New TV, new receiver, speakers, etc etc. I'm a newbie to all this sort of stuff but there were two things I knew for sure: 1) I wanted surround sound speakers mounted behind me and 2) I didn't have the tools/supplies to be able to do so.

First order of business was to order extra long (and quality) speaker wires. Buying those speakers made me realize I had nothing to cut/strip them with. So after some research on Amazon, I came up on this product. As I do with many of my products on Amazon, I make my purchases based upon the reviews it has received. This particular wire stripper seemed worthwhile.

As a newbie, I would have to say this stripper exceeds my expectations. I love how easily it strips through 16-gauge wires. I also love that it has cutters built in (but I'm sure other models have the same). It made installing my satellite speakers a snap. In fact, I so thoroughly enjoyed it that I decided to rewire all the other speakers for my receiver.

I think this product would have been much much better if it was 25% smaller (in case I need to get into smaller spaces) but it worked out for me. Would I recommend this specific model to a friend? Yep!

My dad taught me to strip wires when I was a girl. (My husband, bless his soul, taught me how to strip in other ways. Well, he gave me the motivation, at least.)

My dad always used a "gun style" wire stripper - and I took this preference with me when I moved out. My husband had never seen a wire stripper like this one, but he loved it immediately - and imagine how bummed we both were when it got lost - right in the middle of one of my `honey do' projects around the house.

Amazingly, they didn't have this at our local hardware superstore - and the sales guy never even heard of it. They only had one model - and it cost over $25. And it wasn't infinitely adjustable. Give me a break!

Luckily, I found my favorite days later on Amazon - for an amazingly low price - and with free (Amazon Prime) shipping. Halleluiah!!

Using it is very uncomplicated. There's a dial on the back of the `head' which adjust for different thicknesses of wires. Hell, I just keep fiddling with it - until the insulation comes off cleanly. What could be simpler than that?

My last one was red (in color). This one (in yellow) kinda reminds me of a screamin' chicken.

Why should stripping (wire) be any harder - than it needs to be?!! Enjoy.

On a single 5.1 installation, these things will be worth their price 10x over! You have to fiddle with the adjustment a little, but they do exactly what they are supposed to without doing too much damage to the strands. I can't imaging trying to use it on Romex, haha, but on heavy gauge (12awg) speaker wire, these things are a million times better than even a good traditional wire stripper.

If you ever have trouble stripping wire (like while standing on a ladder) this is a product you need. It is great for electrical wire, phone wire or speaker wire. I already had one of these strippers and I purchased this one for my son-in-law. I also purchased a second one for my second tool box. Great product!

I bought one a long time ago and could not believe how it functioned, but I've carried it on every wire stripping job, from 8-ga to 22-ga challenges, and it has stripped them all equally well. Saves me a ton of time and I love avoiding old-school wire stripping methods.

I've been using similar auto strippers for many years now. The ones I received this time were slightly different than what is pictured (no more logos or brand indication of any type) and they were a slightly different colored plastic than before. They also don't work as good. The pair I received are ripping wires up (and in 1/2 mostly) and are completely useless at this point. Not happy and I'll be sending them back.

I was an auto technician and had a pair of these and lost them. I could never find another pair of the same quality until now. They are absolute magic for low-medium voltage auto and home wires. Once you use these you will feel like a complete moron for using the standard plier style strippers. Insert wire and with a quick squeeze of the handles you have a beautifully striped ready to use wire end. you can literally have 15 wires ready to strip in one hand and perfectly strip them all in under 8 seconds. This will work on both solid core and multi strand wires. This is not a professional tool to use on high voltage overhead power lines. I feel I had to state that due to some thinking it is and rating it low when it breaks... For home and auto use I promise you will not regret this purchase.
