One of Our Most Favorite Toys

These are among the most simple but clever toys we have seen. Our 3 1/2 yr old son got the mini set as a gift a few years ago and they are still his most favorite toys. He also got one of the larger ones, which has not been as popular with him maybe b/c he has only one and can't interchange the parts. He really loves to mix and match the minis and to create stretch limousines w/the parts! My only compalaint is that he's already managed to break several of the rubber tires, although it's not surprising since this kid manages to break practically anything and usually does so within the first few hours of playing with it (the Automoblox lasted for several months without any damage!). I was glad to see from someone else's review that you can re-order missing or broken parts (we've also managed to lose a few of the wheels and tires even though we don't let him take them out of the house... hmmm). Just be careful if you have younger kids since the wheels and tires on the minis and the little people in the larger ones are definite choking hazards.

Where is the old quality???

This is our second set of Automoblox Mini. The first one we purchased about four or five years ago, also on Amazon. Comparing the two sets, I have to say that the quality has gone down remarkably! Really disappointing. The wood on the new set (just arrived) is splintering in many places, but especially where they cut out the lights and other designs. The plastic parts are clearly made much more cheaply and the connecting parts don't slide as easily any more. The tires especially look flimsy. Overall, while we loved our first set, this one is absolutely not worth the money. Very sad to see the producer cut costs so drastically, unless, of course this set is a fake (doubtful, given that it was sold and shipped directly from Amazon)

My son received 2 mini automoblox cars as a gift from his uncle. He really enjoyed taking them apart and re-building them into different designs. I love that they are not "theme-y" (i.e.,from any particular show or movie) and that they foster imagination. I must add, though, that one plastic prong that holds on a wheel broke--and my son is not rough on his toys. I've heard that the manufacturer will replace parts but I have not yet contacted them about this. Still, it has not deterred me from purchasing this set of 3, which my son will receive as a Christmas gift. I look forward to seeing the new car creations he designs!

I'm not sure who enjoys these more: my husband, or our 3-year old daughter. All of the cars come completely apart so you can mix and match the car parts, roofs, wheels, tires, etc. The main body of each car is wood, not plastic, so they are very durable. They also roll really well on hardwood floors and carpet alike, which is a serious improvement over several other car-type toys we own. I highly recommend these cars. They are worth the extra $$!

(he is 5 1/2) I bought this since part of the fun is the parts can work on any car. He loves to take the car apart and put back together and it is just a quality toy that will be around for a very very long time. Really worth it for the price. Kids loves these.

As a longtime Automoblox customer, I'm quite familiar with the company's product line. The set that I received was an older set of Minis, not what was pictured and described. I specifically ordered this set (which was supposed to contain a gold convertible, turquoise mini van and purple SUV) to add to my young nephew's collection, but instead received duplicates of the red, blue and green cars he already owns. I feel like this is a bait and switch. Unfortunately, this was for his birthday, so I had no time to rectify the situation. Automoblox are well-made, quality gifts, but I didn't receive what I expected and am therefore very disappointed.

not too interchangeable

not as interchangeable as i imagined when i saw it.

you can attach the parts on each other and mix... but if you mix the models they always fell out of place. there's corners that don't match and things that does not 'fit'... seems very odd when you mix.

2.5yr old plays with it fine. the tires seems dangerous if swallowed, but once they are in the car, he can't remove easily.
