The Avalon 3 Temperature Bottom Loading Water Cooler with BioGuard and Child Safety Lock is made with an innovative stainless steel body. It offers a choice of 3 water temperatures. The easy-to-use push button spouts make it so much more convenient to use. Simply press the temperature button of choice and allow the water to flow from the given spout. High contact areas are also treated with BioGuard anti-microbial coating to prevent bacteria growth. The machines highly efficient compressor makes the cold water crisp and ice cold at approximately 47° F without the need of adding ice cubes to your drink. The hot faucet is hot enough to cook one's tea or coffee or any other steaming hot beverage at approximately 185° F. Due to the extremely hot water, we've added a child safety lock on the hot water faucet. We have incorporated a nightlight that can be switched on from the back of the unit. This will make filling up your cup at night so much more simple and easy. The dispensing area is 12x3x10 inches with 9 inches of space below the spouts. This will accommodate most large cups or bottles. There is a removable drip tray at the bottom of the dispensing area to catch any drips or spills. This water cooler is bottom loading with a cabinet to hold 3 or 5 gallon bottles. The water is pumped from the bottle through the machine. There is also an empty-bottle indicator that will light up when the bottle needs to be replaced. The water cooler is UL listed and complies with all standards of Energy Star. The unit dimensions are 41x12x13 inches.

I purchased my Avalon water cooler in November of 2016. It has worked great since then and the bottom loading feature is very convenient. A part that dispenses cold water broke inside the cooler a month ago. I contacted Avalon and after a few emails and me sending some pictures, they determined that the part was not something they could send me to replace. So they sent me an entirely brand new cooler. Their customer service is top notch, and this experience shows me that they stand behind their product.

January 8th 2020 Update: Good news! It was only a bad fitting lid that had caused it to rattle. I feel like the top lid should have some gasket to help minimize the chance of it vibration. It does have a compressor in it, the thing will be undergoing a lot of vibration in its life. I took the screws out of the lid and it doesn't buzz loudly anymore.

January 1st 2020 Update: it's now so loud and rattley when dispensing water that it's quite annoying, also the speed at which the water is dispensed seems to have slowed considerably. I will be contacting their customer service but just reviewed the warranty, it's 12 months and I'm at 21 months. I will update after the manufacturer responds. Dropping a star from my original review, 21 months too short of a window to expect optimum performance.

December 2019 Update: 20 months later after dispensing approx 300 gallons of water, it's officially very noisy. . . but only when dispensing water. Previously it dispensed silently, you could have it next to your bed and someone could fill up a glass and they wouldn't hear the compressor. It's really not that big of a concern for me - it's never noisy just sitting there and chilling/heating water, which was my biggest annoyance with past units from competitors.

August 2018 Original review: I've never been so happy with an appliance as I have with the Avalon water cooler. After multiple rental units that leaked or stopped working I did some research and decided to buy my own and went with the Avalon bottom loader. I couldn't be more happy. It setup in minutes after unboxing (it's essentially totally preassembled except for the shelf you put your cup on when filling, which snaps right in).

You can turn the hot or cold sides off if you never plan on using them.

My favorite feature of this water cooler is that out of the 4 different ones I've used in the last 2 years this one is whisper quiet. Wether its dispensing into your cup or a refrigeration cycle is kicking on it's definitely the quietest appliance in my home.

It's attractive and doesn't draw a lot of attention to itself. The manual is well written. The bottom loading siphon attachment works well and pumps 99%+ out of a 5 gallon water bottle.

We've only had this unit setup for about 2 weeks at the time of this review.
Easy install, water tastes good and clean.
No spills or anything goofy like that.
Only issue I see is that the buttons are difficult to press...I mean really difficult, like putting 10-20 lbs of pressure to the point where the water ejects quickly. You can barely push on it for a light trickle, but if you want to fill a cup quickly, be ready to push down really hard for about 20-40 secs at a time.
EDIT: Problem Fixed. SEE VIDEO. If you unscrew the top panel via 2 screws in the back, there is a black piece of plastic that falls down onto some levers, making the buttons hard to press. Seems like it happens during shipping frequently enough the company made a video about it. Shoutout to Jill @ Avalon H20. I taped the piece back up because its supporting clips broke during shipping.

This product stinks. When i first got it the buttons to dispense water (all three) pushed extremely hard. I kept it thinking it would get better and that the cause was due to it needing a break in period. Uhmmm. NO. The buttons never worked right and now the machine will not dispence water at all. The motor runs but it will not draw the water up into the unit for me to dispense. So now i have a $149.00 piece if junk sitting in my kitchen. I wanted to give no stars but you know the deal with that.
What a waste.

Confusing initial use instructions

It arrived yesterday in good condition and packaged well. We opened up the package today and read the accompanying user guide, which we found to be confusing, especially for initial start-up. Section C 'Getting Started' takes you through installing the bottle. Section D 'Dispensing Water' informs you how to dispense the three types of water, (room temp, cold and hot). It also informs you to 'dispense and dispose at least 1 quart of water prior to drinking any water'. Then there is Section F 'Cleaning' that states Clean the dispenser prior to installing a full bottle for the first time. So I filled the cold tank with 0.6 gal of distilled water, opened the drain and only got about half of the water back. Confusing, why is there not a complete Getting Started section that goes in order? Also if I have to take off the top cover and the drain plug cover every 3 months to clean and disinfect the machine they should have put thumb screws instead of the provided sheet metal screws. And if I need to use a disinfectant, why not recommend one, instead of stating 'disinfect with a disinfectant according to the instruction manual of the disinfectant.' Now I'm concerned about how much water I need to waste through the machine to remove any after tastes of the disinfectant. We very much like the look of this unit and time will tell how well it functions. This review is being written now instead of after a week or a month of use, because it is required in order to complete the on-line product registration.

I have now emailed the company directly twice without a response. The cooler has a sticker inside asking to contact the company directly if the customer has issues. Well, the machine leaking is definitly an issue. Right now, it is completly useless.

I am very happy with this purchase. While others say it is noisy, I have to disagree. It only make noise when filling the chambers or when heating/cooling and I do not find this unreasonable. The bottled water is a bit heavy for me but since it doesn't have to be inverted, I can slide it in easily and switching bottles is done in less than a minute. The light goes on when the empty and there is very little left in the bottle. I noted that when the bottle is empty the remaining water coming out of the hot tap is cool. I think this protects the elements... good idea. I do not find the hot water sufficient to brew tea so I put it into the kettle to make it a bit warmer. It is fine for instant oatmeal or hot chocolate. The cold water is great for drinking and because of this machine I am consuming more liquid. I do not use the night light but it works. The one design feature that bugs me is that there is no handle or indentation to open the bottom door where the bottle goes. It is a bit tricky to open and it took me a few minutes when I got it to learn to grab the right edge and pull towards me. I think they should create a depression on the right side for ease of use.

Worked well from the start with good water temperature for hot, room and cold. The flow of the room temperature nozzle seems to drop off when filling a 12 cup coffee pot. Operation is quiet and reloading is great. Pricier than most other options but went with it because of the better reviews. Hopefully it will last.
