Avedon portraits are masterful . Any student of portraiture owes it go themselves to borrow from the master. My Photojournalist friend turned me on to a fantastic British photographer by the name of Platon. His style Plavadon. Power portraits

I saw the gallery show of all this last year and I think it works much better as a book. Of course the huge Warhol/Factory mural is amazing to see in person, but the 4-page fold-out in the book is really well-done. I didn't care about some of the other subject matter when I saw this work in person, but in the book (with accompanying texts) it all makes more sense to me. High quality pages/printing. And at this price? (I paid $21 on Amazon for this and now I see it's $16?! A must-have, especially this cheap.)

This is a great collection of Avedon portraits. Inspiring is an understatement. Its easy to see his influence on those who came after. The pictures look effortless but all the reality of the person standing there is present. Great book.

A lovely addition to your photography book collection. Classic Avedon portraits with some interesting back story. I particularly like the large fold out pages to give this book a little something extra. It's a beautiful coffee table book with a very nice slipcover with an extra plastic protector. I found the Warhol section to be the most fascinating.

While I do agree that there are Avedon books I like more, the price of this book makes it a must buy.

Pros:
beautiful images
historical content
nicely put together book
amazing price

cons:
there are many Avedon books out there, this may not be your favorite
