The active ingredients are Titanium Dioxide (4.3%), Zinc Oxide (3%)
Other physical/mineral based sunscreens can be pricey. I got this small 3oz tube at CVS for ~$11 in the spring but just saw it there on sale today for closer to ~$9 and now on Amazon subscribe and save its $7.65, so I might sign up for S&S as I will continue to use this product.
I have reached the conclusion that I am allergic to some of the active ingredients in regular sunscreens. I can wear them on my body, but NOT on my face. This includes sunscreens developed specifically for the face (including Neutrogena products). It also includes high-end facial moisturizers that contain sunscreen in them. Each time I've tried to apply them, my face burns like I have a chemical burn (which is essentially what is occurring). They make my eyes tear, and I end up having to wash it off quickly, only to be left with red, irritated skin and NO sun protection for my face. I was about to resign myself to life in a hat with a large brim for the rest of my life, when I found this stuff and decided to give it a try. Given that the majority of my life is lived indoors, it's safe to say that I have very fair skin that requires protection. Even just a few hours in mild sunlight causes my skin to turn pink. This is the ONLY sunscreen that has worked on my face, and that I've not had an averse reaction to. I wore it recently to Disneyland for two days in a row in full sun, without a hat, and it worked great! I wore it on my face, neck, chest, and ears. No pink! In the past, two days of full sun has left me with at least some pink on my cheeks and chest, or forearms, but this time nothing. I was extremely pleased with the effectiveness of this product. Especially given the SPF level is 30, and I've even tried up to 70 before with just okay results. I'm a believer in this product, and won't go back to anything else! I've even started wearing it on a daily basis underneath my make-up.
So far the best mineral sunscreen I've used at the best value.
We did nothing different with sunscreen application and used it just like you're supposed to -- applying a generous coat about 20 minutes before we went into the sun and reapplying periodically. I have never used a sunscreen that was as ineffective as this. We could've rubbed regular lotion on and gotten the same results as this sunblock. It was shockingly bad.
Even if this sunscreen had worked, it still isn't a high quality product. It is difficult to rub in and leaves an odd white film that dries and then pills off your skin when rubbed. It looks odd and kind of gross. This is the worst skincare product I've ever purchased.

I can go in the sun again! It does leave a little bit of a white residue, but hey, I can play with my kids in the sun again so it really doesn't matter to me!Published on September 3, 2013 by adrianne
My dermatologist recommended a mineral block type sunblock. I tried Aveeno and it works well (blocking the sun's rays) is easy to apply, stays on when I get wet, and is not greasy.Published on August 20, 2013 by James Dawson
